Daily Deal: VPNSecure Subscription

from the good-deals-on-cool-stuff dept

Internet threats are a real thing - and surfing the web on a public connection can result in your personal data falling into the wrong hands. While most VPNs will help you surf undetected, some still maintain logs on your browsing movements, defeating the purpose of getting one in the first place! VPNSecure proudly assures that ZERO logs are recorded, so you can browse online with absolute peace of mind. It allows you to connect five devices simultaneously and grants you the ability to choose Data Cipher. The unlimited subscription is on sale for $25.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Undeniably believe that which you said. Your favorite justification appeared to be on the internet the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people consider worries that they just do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

    OK, I'll bite.

You are sending all of your connections / data through that encrypted VPN tunnel. They have to be able to decrypt anything passing through that tunnel in order to ensure it reaches the intended destination. (Not including other layers of encryption mind you. Like HTTPS, SSH, etc. Just the tunnel's encryption.)

That means these kinds of service based VPNs are the biggest target for NSLs and other such snooping. With all of the data going through to one central location before it goes anywhere else, all you've done is move the goalposts for such would be snoopers. Granted you'll prevent the local coffee shop or their ISP from seeing your Techdirt traffic, but as most of these VPN users are explicitly using them as a result of Snowden and the constant privacy invasions they hear about, it's not really doing them much good. Worse as the service becomes more popular, it's compromise value for the various eyes of the world goes up. Making the service more likely to be targeted.

If you want real security, set up a home VPN and let it go. You won't be anonymizing traffic that way, you aren't anyway, but at least anyone wanting to sniff will think it's all coming from your house, not where you really are. Anyone wanting real-time location will either need to ask you nicely, or spend a wrench ton of effort trying to break your keys. Instead of getting it all for free with you paying for the privilege.
