@Home Apologizes

We must be on quite a roll here at Techdirt. First Todd takes Wal*Mart to task for messing up with book sales, and they go out and make a deal within 24 hours. Earlier this week, I posted an article about @Home's service and today they issue an apology and are granting users 5 months of free service. However, this is not good news for someone such as myself, because now they are refusing to bring on any new accounts, and I'd bet their not doing the slightest thing to actually get the service into my neighborhood, despite the plans they obviously had (as indicated by the nice little sheet of paper we had stuff under our doormat saying: "@Home will be available HERE on January 1, 1999. Call now to sign up.") So, I remain stuck in low bandwidth...
