Special eBay Browser

from the this-is-what-I-expected dept

See? This is what I expected when Netscape decided to open source the Mozilla code: specialized browsers. Now, someone has come out with an eBay specific browser. Of course, it's based on IE and not Netscape. And it costs $20. That's somewhat silly. Anyway, I always thought that Yahoo! should take over Netscape's browser business and make a browser that ties in all of Yahoo's features. That's a browser I would probably use.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Yahoo Browser integration

Yahoo has already integrated its portal into the browser. It's called the yahoo companion. Pretty cool especially the networked bookmarks.

    Re: Yahoo Browser integration

Yeah, I know about Yahoo Companion, and it's cool, but it requires people to figure out how to install it. I think they could get a lot more out of a full browser with Yahoo features and get it pre-installed on computers, and send out AOL-style discs with it or something along those lines...
