Buy Side Auctions

from the for-the-sucker-in-everyone dept

This one's interesting... eWanted.com is a company that is for auction buy siders. Basically, if you're looking for an item on auction you post it here, and hope that someone auctions it to you? This seems a little strange. Basically, all you're doing is admitting that you're willing to spend a lot on something, and yet, someone else can simply come along and outbid you. The company has no idea how it's going to make money, but has raised some seed funding from investors who apparently don't care. Somehow my guess is their business plan is to sell out to eBay. Note the site's similarity to eBay's site.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Hi Mike,
I think what you are missing is the fact that people post what they want to buy and then sellers come in and outbid each other to sell the product they have. Therefore the buyers gets the best possible price because of the competition. I think it's brillant, and it worked well for me. I was able to find an awesome bike for real cheap because I had four bids on it.
I think it's worth checking out again.
