Flying Cars

from the fun-fun-fun dept

Okay, this one is too much fun not to publish. Just reading it made me happy. Apparently, flying cars are coming. That's right... just like the Jetsons. Well, maybe not "just like", but close enough. I'm sure there are a ton of issues to be worked out, but I don't care. Right now I just want to think about having a flying car.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

      Re: No Subject Given

This article hints at it but NASA has already developed a "highways in the sky" plan in preparation for skycars (think I saw it on Wired or BBC?). Passing would be an issue -- do you just leapfrog somebody (giving them a nice push into, say, a bridge?)?

        computer controlled

Well, I think the article suggested that it would all be computer controlled, which suggests to me that the different cars would be able to communicate easily, and passing and such shouldn't be much of an issue. But, then again, we all know how reliable computers are...

          Re: computer controlled

and speaking of reliability, imagine if we ran skycars on an upgraded version of Windows! yet another niche for my company to enter!

          imagine the headlines. whew! ugly
