What should Gates do?

It seems that Microsoft is stuck inbetween a rock and a hard place. Now that they've been declared a monopoly and the government is contemplating what to do, it may be that the best thing for Gates and Co. to do is to break the company up now to avoid making it bloodier than it needs to be. I can't really imagine Gates cutting his own empire up but well, he just might not have a choice (Sorry Bill!).
