Are you kidding? His voter base will stand behind all of this because it's all "filthy people trying to have sex" and "they're probably guilty of something."
If a student can cheat with a cellphone, then perhaps what you're teaching isn't really useful anyway since anyone with a phone can look it up. We need to revise learning in an age when simple information is so readily available so that people know how to make creative and beneficial use of that information. That's where the future lies.
But I believe the best way to fix public schools is for public officials to enroll their kids in public schools - and join the PTA. Kudos to the mayor for that.
This is a great idea. Now, how much will Spafford, Appelbaum, Felten, Boyd, Robbins, Landau, Ranum, Forno, Schneier, Bellovin, Cheswick, Halderman, Kamnisky, Soghoian, Vixie, Weinstein &etc be contributing to their campaigns?
One of the great things about Netflix is that while the Hollywood studios are reluctant to offer their movies there, independents seem more than happy, esp. foreign film distributors. All it does is lead me to watching more independent content. Netflix's selection of Asian films alone is enough to entertain me for a long time.
I can only imagine the amount of illegal copying that goes on in Hollywood, but they justify it by thinking they're not pirates, they're just trying to run their business. In fact, if they complied with copyright law, their business would be almost impossible to run.
For starters, that's not what this post is about. Why change the subject and address something that the post is not about?
Secondly, what does it matter whether he thinks there should or should not be copyright? Why is this such an important question that you have to keep asking it for years?
And if he actually answered how you think he should - that yes, there should be no copyright (which I don't believe for a second is his opinion) - so what? What have you proven? What kind of triumph is that?
Do you honestly believe the only reason he runs this website is to justify movie piracy? And you're going to call him out on it?

If the car rental company controlled what music was played in the car, they might have a point. You think that in order to be a public performance, you'd have to have some control over what was being performed.
If you'll look at the chart, it shows quite clearly that a very small percentage of works are still commercially exploited after only 10-20 years. 50 years is still too long.
According to the research mentioned in this article, creatives aren't getting paid because their works aren't being made available by the publisher to purchase. That's what the big hole represents - a lack of newer books available to buy.
Not that you'd let real facts get in the way of your pretend facts.
Actually by that time there's a really good chance the heirs will just hand the whole thing over to lawyers, or sell it to a corporation to be handled by the corporation's lawyers. The whole goal of prolonged copyright is for all content to end up in the hands of lawyers.

But if I want to stream a movie, I have to figure out what service is offering it, which may or may not be the service I'm paying a monthly fee for.
So yes, there are ways to better offer the movie, which is is make it available everywhere and for all time.
(Not to mention that even on Youtube it was probably region locked so most of the world couldn't see it.)

Sounds like a statement of opinion to me.
