Your comparison fails in the point that, there will always be ways to get the music, and the films, for free, legal or not. The Music/movie industry try and hold on to the idea that people don't buy movies because they simply can get it illegally for free. they DON'T consider the fact that some do it because they really don't want to have to cart plastic disks around or have to store them on shelves when getting what they want, when they want, even for a reasonable fee, would curtail the illegal usage that currently exist because its in a format the people want.
Its not just the entertainment industry that need to listen. If ANY industry didn't listen to the people they are looking to profit from, they are doomed to die because noone would buy their crap or they would find cheaper and easier ways to do it themselves. If the NFL went and said "Sorry, you can't cheer for the Patriots because they are not your home team. You need to vote for the Cowboys cause you live in Texas, How many patriot fans do you think that live in Texas would just sit there and say "ok. GO COWBOYS!" Hmmm? Business, no matter what industry, is about adapting to the needs of your consumer and finding a balance between making money and keeping your consumer buying.
careful. the fact that you are sticking up for germany when they can protect themselves might be taken as an insult stating that you feel that they can't take care of themselves...
Listen here bub...when you have the payroll like RIAA does of Federal Senators and lobbiests...you would get big bucks like them too...gawd...always picking on the hard working record company who only cares about it's artists...THINK OF THE DOLPHINS!
So last night I had some spare time and wanted to watch G4 TV...sadly Direct TV no longer carries it because they couldn't come to an agreement on cost with the company. So I called them today asking when I will be getting a rate drop for my package because they are no longer offering the channels they list in my contract. They said they can't drop the rate and that access to to watch television and channels is not guaranteed by the contract. I am awaiting a call back from a manager (no I am not holding my breath) as I stated that after being a customer for 12 years with them, they have raised my rates and given me nothing but services that are not available in my area and home shopping channels. I want to know why I, My parents, and my 2 tenants ( yes I pay for their TV and internet as part of rent)should bother paying them money if they can't even hold the programming that we can get for free online.
Actually, both are bad. My hope is, with a balance of Democrats and Republicans, maybe the things getting passed will actually be equal both left and right.
Obamacare, in concept, is a good idea. I believe everyone, no matter how rich or poor, should get health insurance. i also feel I pay far too much for my insurance and get nothing back from my insurance company other than headaches. Always been that way. One needs to fight for what they pay for because insurance companies don't want to pay for what they are supposed to. The cost both insurance wise and prescription wise is far too expensive. Thats what needs to end.
I will admit. I didn't vote. (I just moved to where I am and have to wait 6 months before I can vote cause I moved across state borders). Although even if I could have, I am not sure I would have. I am all for voting people in i think will make a difference, however noone in the race in Massachusetts has convinced me they can do what they say they will. Sadly I find this more and more, I feel I have lost hope that there is someone out there that will actually fight the good fight and not fight the people who wont pay their tab.
I used to work for the government and have seen the underhanded tricks these people use to try and cover up the true statistics to make themselves look good. I left said job because I was asked to reinvent mathematics to make it so a commissioner can get more state funding/grants because he didn't meet the requirements.
That they can charge you $100/bag (last time I flew on Delta) and STILL be able to tell me with a straight face that there wasn't enough room on the flight so my bag is coming on the next one. The flight wasn't even 3/4ths full.
Charter let me do it and I actually saved money. I got "basic" cable and a discount on the service. Just the internet service would have cost me 64$/month. with basic cable (IE just the local channels) I got it for $56/month. I was happy with that cause I was still able to get the Patriot games and the local College's games.
the only people who will have security from being spied apon will be the people who the government actually want to spy on. (The only people with the guns are the ones who shouldn't have them to begin with)
I have done the cloud computing using MS. Its down almost as much as it is up. If google can do better than that I would love it. The other thing is MS cloud is only usable on Windows machines. Google is cross platforms.
