I don't understand how that fact that you have to pay both your ISP as well as the streaming service (which means paying twice) is dishonest though.
It's like complaining that you're paying twice for your car: once to buy the car, and a second time to put gas in it. You need to do both to drive your car, but they're separate purchases to unrelated parties.
See Scary Devil Monastery's response for a more thorough explanation of why this point is dumb.
The glaring problem with this plot device is that according to wikipedia, the filmmaker was born in 1985 and would have been eleven in 1996
I don't see it as a problem. I don't think it was presented as an autobiography, and unless explicitly set in the 90s it would have been strange for teenagers not to have smartphones.
there is no way to get to Toronto from the West Coast without going through Michigan.
I've seen that claim before (maybe from you, I don't know) and it doesn't make any sense. I think you mean to say the most direct route goes through Michigan. If you really want to avoid Michigan, you can go around Lake Erie to the south and enter Ontario from New York. And there are at least three other longer routes that also don't go through Michigan.
What's also strange is I don't know why you would single out Michigan in a story about Texas, so maybe you're coming from Canada's west coast to Toronto, and don't want to enter the US at all. In which case, you can just... not go into Michigan. There are roads going from other parts of Canada into Toronto (assuming Google Maps has correct data about Canada, which I'm fairly confident it does).
Right-wing media is obsessed with "welfare queens", a Reagan-era fiction pushed to justify removing social safety nets, so any poor person not dressed in sackcloth and ashes and communicating via smoke signals must be thieves in some way.
To such a great extent that Fox News mocked poor people (actually they put it in quotes: "poor" people) for owning conveniences such as refrigerators. As in, if you are rich enough to actually have a refrigerator, you must not really be poor.

The answer to when America was great is either it's always been great and still is (in which case why do we need to make it great again?), or a reference to a time that may have been great for straight white men and pretty much nobody else.

At some point, one hopes that someone might admit that the commerce clause has swallowed the Constitution's limited powers.
Lots of people have recognized that, but at this point it would take a constitutional amendment or a Supreme Court willing to go back on its precedents to fix the situation.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: 'NOW you care about possible corruption
that may be true relatively compared to Trump
If you're talking about all humans, then sure Biden could be a lot better. If you're talking about this election, the choices are Biden or Trump, so of course people are going to evaluate Biden on his suitability for the job relative to Trump.

Which half? Just curious since the really gross* part was at the end.
* I'm not criticizing the filmmaker by that statement; it was obviously intentionally gross, and characters in the movie also found it to be so.

Fines for this sort of thing should be double the money the company took in from the violation, at minimum. Maybe that would actually be a deterrent.
