I don't think that would solve the problem, unless you trust your police and legislators. A certified odometer would be susceptible to tracking as well.
Re: Chicago city stickers could cost more for SUVs, less for hybrids
Let's not forget that Illinois has a 10% tax on gas already. If hybrids start making a serious inroad on that source of revenue, the Illinois legislature will create a new tax faster than you can say, "Will someone please think of the environment?"
I will admit that I am a Turker and I have seem a couple of HITs for Zappos. I don't need the money. I am just fascinated with the concept and am interested in seeing out people use it. What a better way than to join up? It is like small mini-games you play in your favorite RPG... well... tedious mini-games that aren't really that fun. Everyday I see some new and interesting ways people are trying to use the tool.
I have also noticed that if anything offers more than a $1.00 to do, it is probably a scam (yes, there are a lot of scams on there for the unsuspecting Turk).
The most fascinating one I have run across is one for a jewelry auction site. You're suppose to go to the site and bid up three actions. If you end up winning, the requester will compensate you up to $20.
This isn't exactly true. There could be some arguments that the U.S. has some jurisdiction over some of the acts of Wikileaks. As long as the prominent members stay outside the US, they are probably ok. But if they were ever to step foot within the borders of the US, the courts would then have personal jurisdiction.
No. Fair use is a judicially created doctrine to make the copyright law constitutional. Congress just codified the common law in the 1976 copyright act. If Congress were to legislate an anti-fair use statute, likely either it would be struck down or the copyright statute would be struck down.
I don't think falling for it "hook line and sinker" is an accurate description of what is going on. Debating this issue is not stopping the debate on many other important issues that this Gannon guy would like us to stop talking about. It is simply one more thing to talk about. We can have multiple meaningful discussions at once.
And here we go. Queue Obama apologists and then blame Bush (there is a lot of blame there, don't get me wrong). However, we should not get over it. We need to continue to point out corruption, hypocrisy and lies where ever they may be, even if the current administration may (a lot of room for debate) be slightly better than the previous one.
I've been to the Alamo Drafthouse and I liked it. I would pay the few extra bucks to go again if I am in town. Of course, they offer an experience that is above and beyond the traditional theater going experience. They are probably not as worried because they add value.
I think the argument is that physical counterfeit goods are used to finance terrorist organizations so DHS has an interest in stopping physical counterfeit goods. That rationale does not apply the the digital realm however.
