Re: 'Think of the freedoms!' cried the people attacking them
During athletic competitions, our student athletes represent not only themselves, but also our universities and all the citizens of this state, many of whom view this form of protest as offensive and disrespectful the very thing our National Anthem represents.
The ironymeter is going to asplode. Kaepernick knelt because origionally he sat and then decide to kneel as a way of showing respect.
Kaepernick explained that he was 'not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of colour'.
I am not a geologist but I have read about underwater landslides, some result in collapse of above sea landmass.
Hank Johnson was referring to capsizing Guam, which doesn't happen to islands. After he got busted for being stupider than a squid, he tried to play it off by saying he was joking and meant the military presence would be too much for the island's infrastructure.
Unfortunately for Johnson, telling a good joke requires actually having intelligence.
It doesn't appear on the surface to be horrible, just bad.
First off, the service (Facebook/Twitter) just has to send its (Indian IP) users an email with the list of forbidden subjects/items listed above every month. More spam for the spam-bucket.
Then FB/T just has to disavow all knowledge of anything; when the Indian government sends FB/T a court order that XYZ post violates the new rule, then FB/T just has to hide the post from all Indian IPs.
Paragraph #9 is impossible, technically: they have to use automated tools to remove "forbidden" content. Not going to happen. Or they can just scan text for the word "tobacco" and call it good. Users will figure out they can use "bacca" or "t0bacc0" or whatever to get around the filter.
because the broadband industry has tried to behave as it awaits a legal outcome, that this somehow meant net neutrality rules weren't necessary
You Honor, as I have successfully refrained from murdering anyone for decades, laws against murder aren't necessary and should be repealed immediately.
Further, a state-by-state approach to laws prohibiting murder will confuse law-abiding citizens and actually increase murder rates; it is too difficult and expensive to not murder someone at present.
Do you believe society only overreacts when "white people" are the potential victims?
The last 400 years of North American History would indicate that yes, when white folks -- especially white women -- are the supposed or actual victims, society will vastly overreact.
WWII Veteran Isaac Woodard Jr. was beaten and permanently blinded in 1946 for arguing with a white bus driver about using the restroom during a rest stop.
Self-regulation in a Capitalist system has never worked, considering the behavior an entity is supposed to curb is massively beneficial to that entity. The 'perfect' company would have no expenses at all, just customers giving it money. Product rental is an easy way to get close to this ideal.
John Deere's scheme to lock their customers out of tractors and farm equipment makes the farmers renters, not owners.
“I would hope that actual swears or slurs would be censored, since paleontology is not a field that's immune to racist/sexist jerks,” noted Brigid Christison, a masters' student in biology at Carleton University
How about this:
1) All attendees are presented with a Code of Conduct (CoC) beforehand that they must agree to as a condition of participation.
2) Attendees can flag any posts/comments they feel are inappropriate.
3) A moderator group reviews the flags and determines if the content violates the CoC. If so, they then delete the comment and either warn the violator or ban them outright based upon the severity.
Re: Re: Has Techdirt, spoken to anyone from the Austin Texas Pol
So you appear to be say that people who disagree with murdering black people are themselves a violent threat to others, or are at least fear inducing. Does not being able to murder a certain set of the population really fill you with that much terror?
I suspect that it is filled with the terror that should POC gain the same rights and considerations as Caucasians, then the POC will treat the Caucasians as they were treated. This is not true, but no one said that such folk live in reality.
"First they ignore you. Then they ridicule you. And then they attack you and want to burn you. And then they build monuments to you."
— Nicholas Klein (1914)
Movements to "defund" law enforcement agencies have sprung up around the nation, trailing the protests against police violence that spread across the country following the killing of George Floyd—an unarmed black man—by Minneapolis police officers in May.
