Big difference between Facebook deciding what should be on their own platform and the National Inquirer deciding what should be in somebody else's bookshop.

They wont want discovery
In 2015 John E. Reid and Associates paid out $2 million out of court to Juan Rivera, who sued after he was wrongfully convicted (using the Reid Technique) of rape and murder.
Can we just start firing people that say "quote unquote" into the Sun? The world will be a better place and I'm sure science can find some research value.
Valve didn't have anybody to strong arm. They already had already cemented their position long before GOG, itch.io and any real competition even existed.
Cheating might be part of your culture but it isn't part of mine.
You can cheat all you want in single player games. But when you cheat in multi-player games you ruin the experience for everyone else, so much so that people that've paid good money for a game simply can't enjoy it any more.

Completely untrue. That would mean every single game on the Epic store would be an exclusive, and that simply isn't the case. Ergo you can be one the Epic store without signing an exclusivity deal. Do you think all the Ubisoft games on there are exclusives?
A fair point but the article, as do many on Techdirt seem to unduly focus just on the US. Yes, the US is an important market but it's nowhere near as big as the rest of the world.
