Yes, but not shot in a matter of honor in the course of what was once a more acceptable solution. Which rather falls in line with the point, i think. Even if we could strive further to be better than we are as a whole. So let it continue to be unacceptable to be pierced by some bit of metal or other to resolve cases of trolling.
Oh, I am sure these ones haunt such blog communities. They pop in elsewhere whenever they feel their voices need to be heard. Because any slight shift of focus toward fairness to the less privileged persons needs to be immediately "balanced" by the voices which are so silenced that they have been pretty much the only ones that count for the last 8-10ky.
I'll never understand why companies feel the need to take the shadiest route possible,
I would imagine it is partially because this is a popular element of our culture, and everyone doing it imagines they are the good guys.
Not sure what is up with Uber, but this is the third or fourth completely different shady thing i have heard about them this week. If i am not lazy, I will find what the others were as i paid less attention to them.
So they would have "normal" cell towers... spoof cell towers. Got it.
And then someone gets to intercept communications. Be nice if they simply did it by determining location, and piss off all the guards and administration. but that wouldn't get them extra spying on whatever they can vacuum up.
Expect strategically placed new prisons. Or, for purposes of convenience, all cell towers are enlisted.
His is the guy who originally used a title for his name and still won't release his actual name, so yeah. Kind of like some phases of Prince, formerly known as Prince.
Yes! Because connect with faithful / reason to buy. (Or believe.)
Yes, I am sure ppl on Etsy are making more than some other outfits have in the past with pope t-shirts. This smells more just like someone convinced the hierarchy that this is modernization, or someone is having a control freak problem.
It doesn't make her particularly special. She broke some further rules and laws doing so, in the same action. But the loud and continuous cry that this makes her particularly worse than any of a number of other backchannel users is all out of proportion with the merit of the complaint.
Taking the extra level of responsibility (or extra effort to hide) can be argued to be better or worse than using basic commercial email services, but no one has made a good argument on that yet. That her system probably sucked does not illustrate an intent to leak classified info like a sieve, and it is still potentially more secure than any other commonly used email service. (Never mind that they rifle through your text to serve ads.)
It's nice to have smart engineers working very hard on roadway design, monitoring and modelling traffic flow patterns, and making changes for safety and efficiency in the way we handle transportation and infrastructure (which is not exactly cheap either), only to have your local numbnuts anywhere arbitrarily change things to suit their whims.
I suppose as long as the increased revenue covers the cost of keeping police around for ticketing duty, and any increased emergency services usage and cleanup required when de-optimizing for safety, it's all cool.
I would imagine it is a problem particularly when we expect standardized traffic signs and signals and the timing of something as important as intersection traffic signals is not only neither standardized nor optimized (for safety), but the timing may also fluctuate, unknown to the public, at the whim of some officials (or shady interns @@).
P.S., If your interns can do things like change traffic light timing, you have a serious fscking problem, Bob.
"Theft" is a very specific term. I am sure you are trying to have it acknowledged that things like corporate espionage are wrong. And you won't get much argument. But just because people like to commonly say things like "theft of trade secrets" for exfiltrating trade secret data, it doesn't make it "theft", where the stolen item is no longer accessible to the original owner.
Maybe you are hung up on definitions and think this is nitpicky, but it is actually an important distinction that has had to be made repeatedly over the years. Or do you simply want to classify such things as "theft" for some other reasons. (It isn't that the examples are misunderstood; we are looking for an argument that this is actually theft.)
I didn't see filtering and censoring suggested. But I am sure someone would suggest it. They always do.
The other problem is re-used content. While it may be worth noting the content is re-used, one cannot be sure that it wasn't simply another person spouting some talking points they read elsewhere nearly verbatim, as enough people seem wont to do.
