Ah, but 'Masnick' only 'supports' corporations when they are 'Big Search' or 'Big Tech' or anyone who the 'Big Content' (Control) industry deems is 'against' them. If Mike supported a media company in anything, Out_of_the_Average_Bob would just scream 'hypocrisy' or whatever they could twist into an automatic attack on him. Doubly so if Mike didn't even write the post!
The BBC's CBeebies (pre-school children's) channel has a presenter called Cerrie Burnell who is missing half of one arm. Many people (including myself) don't notice this for a while, and it is a thing of beauty to watch how deftly she uses her elbow instead of a hand, or makes it really non-obvious, or even 'natural'. Mind you, she's a 'thing of beauty' herself, which might add to the distraction level...
We would happily complain if there was an example of police (or anyone) abusing guns, tasers, or even nightsticks. Usually though, this being a tech blog, it's when it's in connection to tech or rights issues, such as police objecting (maybe violently) to someone filming them.
And in some jurisdictions this kind of circumvention *is* illegal. In others, it isn't, so could be seen as 'harmless fun'. And as numerous posters have indicated, it might not work at all. In the end, the user/driver is responsible for what they do, and should be held (accurately) to account. So should police and government officials, especially if there are suspicions that they themselves are bending the law or blindly using cameras inaccurately.
And this is the point about a 'reliable witness' being absent. It wouldn't stop a human seeing it, so could be argued to be at least as legal as the locality's use of a camera to bypass Fourth Amendment concerns.
It would probably be something similar here in the UK. We have mandated font and font size for number plates (although this is occasionally ignored, that's rare), and they take a dim view of anyone apparently deliberately obscuring their plates. Of course, in rural areas where peoples' Land Rovers get all covered in mud... ;)
Re: Had you read the comments there, or had a bit of sense,
When all you can do is actively troll an article to nitpick anything other than actually agreeing with a TD article, and when half your post is pointless insults, it totally devalues any attempt to take any of your other posts remotely seriously. At least average_joe makes some good legal observations.
Non-douchebag version:
"it's possible that system wouldn't work well, if at all. Relies on first detecting a flash at the least, so if other models use low-light or IR cameras, doesn't work at all.
I also think that the AC at #1 and #3 has sense in what he's adding to this."
Please hand back your car and computer and go back to living in the wilderness. Don't worry, evil products of diabolic science like 'stone tools' and 'fire' are also able to be left behind. Good luck!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Mike too is holding "Blind & Deaf Access Rights" as cloak
If you mean 'universally embraced' to mean 'held up as an example of massive narcissism, egotism and selfishness' then sure. If you want to make a case for it being held in any actual regard, feel free to make it - you have 25 words.
Other than that, what relevance does being a Rand fanboi have to this conversation? Did your comment add in any way? However, feel free not to contribute any more if you don't like us disagreeing with you.

The ignorance here is beyond amazing :)
A 'stone' in British use is a measure of weight equal to 14 pounds, or 6.35 kg. Most people give their weight in stone (sing & pl.) in colloquial speech.

But it's certainly nothing to do with height.
