"Instead of creating special carve outs in the patent system for big special interests with massive lobbying budgets, how about if Congress actually did its job and fixed a broken patent system to get rid of all bad patents?"
Because that would be representing the citizens, and not the companies that bankroll their lavish lifestyles and employ them when they quit politics.
I certainly hope you meant that as a rhetorical question ;)
My feeling is that they can't do much worse than the people that have been doing it, and because they don't have the ties and backdoor obligations they might actually have a better chance of doing a good job.
Apparently you can buy iPads at a discount from Apple to be used in promotions, and they have language in the contracts for those reduced-price promo iPads that says your promotion can't reflect badly on Apple. Apple is just starting to enforce the contracts. If you buy it at retail and give it away, the doctrine of first sale protects you.
I'm not 100%, but that's the explanation I saw elsewhere. I hate Apple as much as the next guy, but I don't want to hate them for a non-reason.
If you risked your life for a country that will arrest people for dancing, what did you really risk your life for? The freedoms you so espouse are being systematically stripped from us. Just because they're not facing death or bullets doesn't make them less patriotic.
BTW, your buddies that are risking their lives this very moment? It's not always for freedom. A lot of it's driven by profit, even if they think it's for freedom. When the military brass is saying we need to reduce the budget and limit engagements but the politicians say no, they're fighting for profit, not for freedom.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: I'm not overly sympathetic
The reason you get ill will when you say this is a fallen world is that you're "respectfully" telling those of us that don't believe in imaginary sky fairies that you are
a) Not one of the "fallen" and therefore better than everyone else
b) Delusional
c) In utter contempt of everything non-Christian. Or even better, that doesn't adhere to your exact interpretation of Christianity.
You're delusional, ignorant and disrespectful. You get "persecuted" because you're a self-righteous asshole, not because you're a Christian.
I'd guess that's completely illegal, due to trademark infringement. If Apple knew about it, they'd stop it ;) It's just that this kid is in the US and easier to access via the legal system than some side-market in China.
That excuse does not work for the average citizen. Why in the FUCK should it work for an officer, whose livelihood is based on his enforcement of the law, and therefore knowledge?
Depends on whether those higher up are on what side. You get people like Joe Arpaio heading things up, and the bullies survive while the "law and order" types get pushed out.
No, there's no such thing as perpetual motion. But this could significantly cut the energy bills of an amusement park. Something doesn't have to be perfect to make it better than what exists.

Change doesn't happen when you do whatever stupid thing you're told to do. Many times the things you're told to do NEED to be resisted.
