every windows user i know complains about EULA's, especially the long ones that require you to scroll to the bottom. I think seeing "End User License Agreement" get the point across effectively.
oh man. are you assuming that regular people are going to stop spending money there because they treated one employee badly? they treat every customer that walks through their doors badly, daily, and that hasn't hurt their bottom line at all.
they are agreat deal when you bought a blackberry because it was the only decent qwerty phone from ATT at the time. I was forced into a data plan because of the phone. saving 15$ of something i don't actually use is actually a god send. but yea, i can see where caps could be a problem (i regularly hit my comcast cap of 250GB)
im surprised the anti-free(dom) Hirschorn didn't bash google for using open source software in it's OS(s). I mean, what the hell? obviously those of us who do actually believe in free(dom) are radical extremists. and open source should the anti-thesis to his entire life it seems.
I think this f-cker is confused on the definition between Libre and gratis, or free in English. what most people want is a free(libre) internet. I am okay with spending money, and making money on the internet, I am not okay with denying access for profits. If you have something worth buying, i will buy it. news? not worth it when i can get it for free(gratis) almost anywhere else. music is worth money. movies are worth money. books are worth money.
random words from a "reporter" that may or may not be actually true, but are passed off as true (see porn article above)? not worth money.
but since normal people(read: idiots) will see graduated response and think that isn't so bad so won't fuss when it becomes bill then law then everyone gets kicked off the internet.
I think internet only companies should be fighting these 3 strikes laws tooth and nail. less people on the net means less profits.
so, who are these people and how can i avoid sending them any money in any way what so ever?
What companies should I avoid to make sure this asshole gets no money from me?
so because your (one) company can't find enterprise apps that run on linux that means there is noone else in the world who has? there are plenty of places i know that use Linux backends with windows front ends. again, because your company can't find anything doesn't mean it is there.
and from personal experience windows costs far exceed the actual cost of the software. Nothing is free when you count time spent as a cost, but windows is still more expensive if you add that in too.
IT staff that can't support any OS put in front of them are a waste of money.
And many enterprises do use Linux. especially when it comes to 1U appliances. also everyone who is using VMWare is using Linux. there are a ton of uses of non-windows in the enterprise world. most problems comes when C-level execs make stupid decisions based on the ads in Information Week. Windows is good if you need windows. Linux is good when you need Linux.
wait, what? i am going back through my comments, but can't seem to find the one you are referencing. can you provide a link so i can see it in context?
meh, most of our current culture really isn't worth saving. Most of it is about acquiring more stuff and bigger places to store more stuff. not worth it. maybe DRM is there to make sure noone after us remembers how utterly horrible our culture is.
if you are within a large company in their IT department with little or no security, writing a script to do the pennies on the dollar trick wouldn't be impossible. you would still need to know alot about software, databases and covering your tracks. but it would be possible.
If you worked in medical, and if you could scalp a hospital discharge list for large surgeries, sending a fake bill for 20$ to all patient would net you a large sum quickly. Say it was from "East Central Radiology" or something and most (99%) patients would just pay it. when you get bills in the excess of $200,000, most people will just pay the $20. buy some cheap office space and have it sent there, wouldn't even look bad.
yes, because previous indications have shown that human beings can't tell the difference between a male and a female of their own species. /sarcmark (c)(TM)(patent pending)
