Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: And THAT is what YOU are voting for!!!
@ Anonymous Anonymous Coward, politicians tend to caucus even when they're in different parties, so you'll never get rid of the practice of forming parties, just the name you give to the act of banding together to agree on policy.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: And THAT is what YOU are voting for!!!
You need a sustained grassroots-driven campaign to make it happen. If we can kill SOPA we can get art guerilla's reasonable proposals enacted. We need numebers, momentum, and someone to coordinate it. Is there any way to piggyback on an existing campaign? It's better than splintering.
A return to GEORGE W. BUSH form, really -- basically another 4-8 years of post-2001 fear-based legislating, like her predecessor engaged in.
I've been saying it all along — Hillary is a neocon war hawk. She might throw a little cous couse to the Progressive base to get votes from time to time, but let's face it, she's Establishment at heart.
Exactly. They may throw a little Progressive meat to the base from time to time but the part in and of itself is not particularly liberal or leftist. If it was, we'd have Sanders going up against Trump.
You know how I'm always going on about the Powell Memorandum and what happens when you encourage special interest groups to flood the media, etc., with their own propaganda? You know how I'm always saying, "Be careful who you give that kind of power to?"
This is why.
Mike leans libertarian/classical liberal and has communitarian sympathies, i.e. he cares about the public interest. The evidence for this is in his posts in which he extols the virtue of the free market, calls for protection of freedom of speech for all, and where he expounds upon the limits placed by the Constitution on monopolies.
Bashing Trump =/= liberal, leftist, or anything like that. Trump is an ignorant narcissist, that's why we bash him.
Hillary's a neocon war hawk, that's why we bash her.
Johnson hasn't found out what a Leppo is yet and Stein thinks "president" = "monarch" — she forgets she'd have to stuff both Houses with Green reps to implement her pipe dream policies. I think that Prohibition party chap is still running, but "prohibition" says it all, really, so I can't be bothered to insult him.
Read it again; it is. We might not have the feelies yet but excessive sexualisation, the shift to the consumer society, social alientation... the gang's all here (except the feelies. That's stuck in VR at the moment).
In the UK the sticker price is the price you pay. I can't imagine the amount of mental mathematics you have to do over there to ensure your weekly shop comes in on budget.
Okay, I'll bite. How exactly would you keep the market free? Remember, incumbency leads to monopoly. There's no way simply voting with your feet can prevent that.
If that was in the least bit true you wouldn't have either Hillary or Donald running for office, they'd have been run out of town on a rail a long time ago by irate voters.
And that, my friends, is why you don't give any special interest group carte blanche to insert their propaganda into every social and media nook and cranny via the party machine. You can never tell what flavour "their" propaganda is likely to take.
If Fox will only accept Trump and his ilk as valid representations of the Republican movement, expect more of the same till they change their minds. Hilariously, they've painted themselves into a corner; any time they try to be more moderate their audience flips out at them and claims they've gone all liberal and stuff.
Monica claims it was a full-on love affair and alleged no misconduct on Bill's part till he denied he had been involved with her, then dumped her altogether.
Bill is a perve, end of.
Good grief, you Americans have a choice between Strychnine and Cyanide, don't you? Why are we arguing over this? They're both awful!
I got into a similar conversation over Basic Income. I did the research as advised and came out with more reasons than ever to oppose it. This is the main reason why you don't get other people to prove your point for you; they're unlikely to use the same sources of reference that you do.
Which is why you're hiding behind "Dig it up yourself," aren't you? You know damn well that if you provide us with the links to the evidence that backs up your position there's a damn good chance we'll find it's not credible.
That said, I find Hillary odious; she's actually a neocon war hawk. Democrats are not automatically left wing or progressive as such, it's just that the party caters to those people to get their votes.

When the opportunity to make money is treated as an actual property right, it's time to take the thing around the back and shoot it in the head.

I'm one of the sensible conservatives. We do exist, you know, but end up being either shouted down by the nutbuckets or lumped in with "the left."
What left? There's no real left in America.
