Re: Re: Re: Yeah, tough call: Billions spied on, versus one possible thief...
I suppose all the private security guys that "keep watch" at the doors of stores and jewellery shops should stop "spying" on us?
I received a letter from my aunt, but I lost it. I searched for it, then I examined it closely and carefully while I read it. I suppose that means I'm spying on my aunt...
I just discovered by observation or scrutiny that my coffee is cold. Oh no, another case of spying (on coffee).
Military Intelligence is ALREADY a "loose" (mis)use of the term oxymoron (it isn't: a real one is words that actually contradict, like "living dead"... just because I think Bob isn't funny doens't mean Funny Bob is an oxymoron, but at least in jest it... sorta works). Saying Justice Department is an oxymoron is like saying "Target Practice" is an oxymoron because I suck at target practice.
You say that all monopolies are bad. Yet you don't actually show that the things that are being discussed here are monopolies. The point of the article is that they are not monopolies (a monopoly has a definition, look it up). Just because one business is the biggest, does not make it a monopoly.
Look up oxymoron (a paradox). You can jokingly say that Military Intelligence is an oxymoron (because the military isn't intelligent, in your opinion). But you can't say that Military Base is an oxymoron.
Anyone can fork it, as long as they follow whatever license (GPL, means, the fork's source must be open too, and other stuff).
You can't Un-GPL something once everyone has had a chance to download the source and make their forks. You can only make the NEXT version closed and let everyone keep developing on the old code (which could end up being more sophisticated than the closed code if the community is active enough).
Well, the pilot could be concealing some sort of object that would enable him to hijack the plane, like maybe really dark sunglasses to cover the copilot eyes, or an extra lever or button or something...

Do you mean that would never happen to the NATO or the Warsaw Pact of the 80's? That's good to know... hardly relevant.

If a police officer hits me with his nightstick without provocation, it's okay because he's trying to do his job, which is to prevent crimes.
It's the same as if two boxers punched each other, because they can't do their jobs without hitting somebody.

You can't fly without being groped or having naked pictures of you taken.
You can't have your prostate examined without having... your prostate examined.
Yep, it's pretty much the same.

Success/dominance does not automatically mean monopoly. It means that your competitors just aren't good enough.
It's in the damn title.
