Once again it is the concept of "National Security" that trumps due process. However it should be clear that terrorism is NOT a matter of National Security.
Defending the UK against the Kaiser, Hitler and Stalin WERE matters of National Security because those adversaries had the power to actually overturn the UK as a state. Terrorists do NOT have that power - and therefore terrorism is NOT a matter of national security - it is merely a matter of vilent criminality. To claim otherwise is in fact to glorify terrorism - which Tony Blair decided should be against the law. So this secret trial is itsellf in breach of anti-terrorism laws!
"It's 'Don't be Evil' 101," says Geoff Taylor, chief executive of the music industry's trade body, the BPI. "The principle at stake here is when you know someone is acting illegally, you shouldn't continue helping them by sending them business."
No it isn't - - surely "Don't be Evil 101" would be the Sermon on the Mount which clearly enjoins us to be neutral in these circumstances
"That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." Matthew 5 -45
While critics may be right that Google can do certain things if "forced" to by government bodies,
They are wrong.
What Google can do (has done) is to pretend to follow a legal indtruction to a sufficient level to convince those who ordered them to do it (for now). Of course if a few months they will discover that what Google has done is in practice less effective than it appeared at first (to a naive observer).
And of course if Google really succeeded ( a big if) then there are options such as Yacy (which no-one can issue orders to for technical reasons) waiting in the wings to take over.
These propeller type aircraft can fly faster then the limit you mention - the key being the shape of the blades. This was tried a whiile back (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Electric_GE36) but there were problems with noise.
Apparently these have now been solved - but at present it is held up by the need for the airframe manufacturers to agree with the engine manufacturers about the configuration. Since there are three engine manufacturers (PW,GE and RR) and two airframe manufacturers (Airbus Industrie and Boeing)it is likely that the engine manufacturers will go 2-1 and no-one wants to be the 1 or to be the aiframe manufacturer who backs the 1. So there is apparently an impasse.
thanks to the USA and the drug companies, look-a-likes are basically banned. not a bad way to ensure they keep their sales figures and profits up, eh? stop the poor from being cured or treated, escalate the number of deaths
We have not moved on from the 19th century- have we?

Before I'd trust a fork, I'd want an idea of why the original developers considered it insecure in the first place.

What I'm talking about is that corporations make sure that individuals don't take responsibility for the illegal or unethical actions of the corporation.

The distributed cells have leaders, and you are going to have the 'best' person as the leader, take out that 'best' person, and second best takes his place. That is a positive effect.
Like when Lenin died and was replaced by Stalin - or when Tiberius died and was replaced by Caligula - or when Mohammed Yusuf (the original Boko Haram leader) was killed by the Nigerian security services and was replaced by Abubakar Shekau.
But they continue these policies anyway as part of a self-fufilling prophecy so they can strip our rights even further.
No - they continue those policies because there is always a salesman whispering in their ears. Just about all of these policies involve the government buying some kit - the stripping of rights is not intended - it is the accidental result of reckless pusuit of profit. Eisenhower once warned about the military industrial complex. It didn't go away - it just sells smaller less expensive pieces of kit these days - but the markups - and hence the profits - remain huge.
Re: Drone Killing Strategy Is Having Zero Impact On Al-Qaeda Attack Numbers
You win the stupid prize here. Killing these people is counter productive because they are replaced by someone worse. This happened with Boko Haram in Nigeria.
To which one could add the quote usually attributed to George Orwell "Journalism is printing what someone else does not want printed; everything else is public relations."
Or John Milton "Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties."
If Capital Punishment was the end result for all crimes, no matter what they were, we would have less crime because nobody would be willing to tempt that fate.
This was tried in 18th century Britain. It failed abjectly. A lot of innocent peopel were killed and crime was as bad as ever.

Responsibility is only meaningful if it implies liability.
Trying to avoid liability thus amounts to trying to avoid responsibility.
