"Take a bunch of jerks welshing on their marriage contracts"
The other aspect of this is that a large number of people using Ashely Madison are not cheating at all, but are swingers. In all of the condemnation of AM's users and all of the "haha, they deserved it" that I've been reading, there is too little recognition that a lot of perfectly innocent people were harmed as well.
Not always. Certain lies are always a crime (such as giving them a false identity or filing a false police report) and it's a crime to lie to police when they are asking about things you personally witnessed when they are conducting an investigation (that's obstructing justice). In most other circumstances, though, lying to the cops is not actually illegal.
The specific limits vary from state to state, so if you plan on lying you should probably look up the law where you live.
"The government could very easily pass a law that ensures every copyright holder has to register their details to a central database so that anyone can contact the creator and pay them for use of their music"
This used to be the law. The government doesn't have to make a new one, it just has to get rid of the awful one that eliminated this requirement.

"that MPAA or anyone defending their property rights are portrayed as evil criminals."
What makes the MPAA evil criminals isn't that they are defending their rights. It's that in the course of doing so, they are running roughshod over everyone else's.
Every time an article appears criticizing Russia's online propaganda efforts, we see bunches of comments from people who are obviously part of Russia's online propaganda army, making comments that are meaningless, attempting to divert from the topic of Russia's propaganda army.
Seriously, guys, you need to up your game. When you're this obvious and amateurish, your efforts actually accomplish the opposite of what you intend.
Plenty of us out here in the public have been arguing about this issue for years -- including in letters sent directly to the USTR. But we're totally ignored until "big industry" comes along and says the same thing./blockquote>
Of course. That's because ordinary citizens are not "stakeholders" and have no actual seat at the table.
I find it interesting how when Russia is criticized for doing this, people come out of the woodwork saying "but everybody's doing it" but when the US is criticized for doing this, nothing of the sort happens.
"But everybody's doing it" is not a defense, nor is it particularly relevant.
I seriously doubt it. An example was already set when the CEO of Qwest refused to cooperate with the government's spying demands. he was destroyed. That's the only example the telecoms are going to pay attention to.

No problem. It just means that a new system has to be developed on a regular basis, to replace the old one when it gets corrupted.

100%
I personally ignore 100% of all DLC. DLC is one of the things that pushed me away from most modern games, especially AAA titles, entirely.
