Hey, this is supposedly a free market society, let them charge for something that can be acquired elsewhere for free. If they think they are so special, go for it. They can find another line of work. Maybe what they failed to learn in business class can be taught to them in the real world. The ONLY way something can have value is if someone else finds it valuable. An example would be: If I had a item that I said was worth $5, or cost $5 to make, its only worth $5 if someone gives my $5 for it. If I said it was worth $5 and someone was only willing to pay $1, then its only worth $1. No matter how much I cry and whine about it. In addition, if no one will pay me anything for it, or will only take it if its free, then its time to find something else to sell and use the free item as a "draw" to advertise another item. Thus giving the free item more value, not necessarily to the customer, but to me as a marketing tool. The better the free item is, the better the advertising and, hopefully, the more sales of the other item. That's not really from a business class. That's just COMMON SENSE!
I've never heard of Lilly Allen except for reading about her here. Maybe its part of her business model to get her name out there by getting people to comment on how much of an id...err...hypocrite she is? After all, no offence but, shes gotten you to mention her, the fact that she is either a singer, songwriter, or something, and you even mentioned her website. Hmm...If its not part of her business model maybe it should be. FREE ADVERTISING. Name recognition is a big part of trying to achieve celebrity status. Send her and EMI a bill. They are the ones who keep saying nothing is free!!!
Its time to stop soft-stepping the issue and tell it the way it is because they just aren't getting it. No matter how much they keep telling people to pay them for what they do, the peopple don't want to and wont, period! Please, put up your paywalls and everything already, get it over with, go out of business, and maybe then you will figure it out. The old saying "lead, follow or get out of the way" speaks volumes here. To be brutally honest, if people wont pay for what you do it has no value. Stop whining about it, get over yourself and move on. We already have and we don't care! You're just not that important any-more, Sorry.
With my being a Viacom and Time Warner Cable Customer I feel that The current negotiations for more money is a joke. With the economy being as it is the "need" for more corporate gouging needs to stop. The customers that you "serve" are having to make hard decisions on their finances in order to just get by. The $39 million that your company is demanding is idiotic. Your company needs to learn to live within its means. If they cant then good riddance to them. Their will be another company to fill the spot soon enough. If the corporate execs dont get their bonuses this year, well TOO BAD. I wont get one so who the he-- do they think they are? Good for Time Warner. Im not saying they aren't just as greedy but at least they are trying to keep cost down for their customers. forward this as far up the corporate ladder as you can. maybe someday they will get the hint before their greed gets the better of them and all of you are looking for new jobs.
