That dividing line with the comment link goes to the story ABOVE, not to the story below even though there's no dividing line separating the link from the headline. It's how this site is laid out and might confuse people new to the site. The idea is that you read the story to the end, then clink the link at the end. Many stories are longer than the screen height, so it would be silly to have to scroll back to the start of the article to clink a comment link, so the comment link is always after the article.
Nice strawman. Last year, 16 kids were killed by dogs. SIXTEEN. Even if you needed to immediately shoot those dogs, and I don't think that's the case, it's still the vast minority of all dog shootings. I'd bet good money that the vast majority of dogs killed were of no danger to anyone.
It certainly needs to be harder for a cop to pull out the lethal weapon option, especially with all the (mostly) non-lethal options available. As far as I know, police-grade mace works as well on dogs as on people. Why you'd ever have to shoot a dog I don't know. Safer for everyone around, as the kid who got shot by a cop trying to kill a pet can tell you.

I like Verhoeven's movies too, but I don't quite think the parody form suits Starship Troopers as well. That's why I'd like to see a more serious version - maybe I actually wouldn't like it as much, but we'll never know if it's not made.
As to Angry Joe, I like some of his videos, and hate others. He's kinda hit and miss as a reviewer in my opinion... which is only my opinion. I also haven't seen Picard yet, and with the abortion CBS made called Discovery, I might not ever see it unless some reviewer I trust give me reason to do so.
I only wish they had serious takes on Heinlein. I'd love to see Starship Troopers done in the same vein as The Big Red One. And some of his other stuff, too. They totally destroyed Red Planet trying to make it into an eco morality play for kids.
Of course, Dunne and Terzian also filed the silly case against Google, so I'm guessing they don't much care about their own reputation as lawyers.
Or maybe they like a reputation of being the ones to go to when you have more money than brains and want to file nuisance suits. They're crying all the way to the bank.
There's a LOT on crime shows that are little more than wishful thinking. Prosecutors and defenders alike hate it - prosecutors because people think there should always be "infallible proof" of several sorts for every crime, and defenders because people think that many types of "evidence" are infallible and perfect proof of guilt.
Nintendo also didn't buy a music label and movie distributor and get infected with IP lawyers as badly as Sony did when it did both. Sony was actually rather good about all this before they bought BMG.
The latest rash of video take-downs and lawsuits seems to indicate that what infection Nintendo did get has spread rapidly in the last several years.
"In 2016, Verizon struck a $1.35 settlement with the FCC for modifying wireless user data packets to covertly track users around the internet without telling them.
If they only got fine $1.35, they aren't likely to change. ;)

I'm pretty much an old fogey now myself, but I'm embarrassed at how many people of my generation have turned into senile old coots yelling at kids to get off their lawn. I'd hoped that by now, the worst of the Luddites would be too old to ruin things, but more keep taking their places every year. :(
Since the MTA clearly consider it infringing, and since his came FIRST, clearly THEY are infringing HIS copyright. He can happily start sending takedown notices on their images. ;)

I loved Lost in Space! As a kid. That and Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers...
Lost in Space hasn't held up as well over the years compared to those others, but better than some later ones like Space Rangers.
