Re: Re: Actually....
Jamming, and turning it off effectively do the same thing. Since the service was made available the fact that they turned off BECAUSE they feared what someone or a group of someones might say is what is important. There was no riot going on, there was a protest which is a constitutionally guaranteed right. They overstepped their authority.

Re:
"They were not targeting speech they didn't like - they were targeting those who were using this technology to spread hateful / illegal speech intended to create disruption and potentially a riot. They are not obliged to participate in their own demise"
Please re-read the above statement. I would like to call out "hateful / illegal speech" and "potentially riot."
"hateful / illegal speech" : Please define what this is, cause last I checked if I am not yelling fire in a crowded theater there is no such thing. As for being hateful that seems a little presumptuous. People are allowed to protest which is what this was.
"potentially riot" : This is completely unprovable and a non sequitur. OH NO! There could be a riot. The same stands true for a Raider's football game, so I would like to know what your point is. By your logic we should ban the use of cell phones there as well. It will get out their message of hate. For that matter I guess we should just blackout the game cause someone might bring a sign while dressed in spikes and body paint saying something not nice about the opposing team.

Re: They dropped the album like Apple drop products
For the person who would have downloaded and never paid for the album, there is no harm in waiting 1 hour after its official release to get it from a P2P network. This did nothing. It makes for a good story and gives yourself and some of the AC's something to latch onto, but where in your head could you possible think that this gives them 24 hours on no competition from a P2P network? Do you know how long its takes to download an album and make it available via Bit Torrent? I assure you it is a hell of a lot less than 24 hours.

Re:
Your point? Lady Gaga's latest release "Born This Way" was available for download long before its May 23rd release date, and guess what:
"Upon release, Born This Way sold 1.108 million copies in its first week in the United States, debuting atop the Billboard 200, and topping the charts in more than 10 other countries."

Hardware Patents
I am seeing this as stage2 of Google stands up for its Hardware vendors.
Google has already said that it is going to defend or assist HTC in their patent war with apple. I would imagine that the would do the same thing for Samsung given that the two of them make the vast majority of Android devices. Once the sale is finalized it gives Google access to Motorola's vast patent library to find weapons which Samsung, HTC, and Google itself may use to defend themselves against Apple and any future litigation.
As to the hardware, it has been stated that while Google would own them, it would not be integrated as with other Google acquisitions. They would remain separate, but no undoubtedly have influence from Google on how to change somethings about their handsets and tablets. I view it as a good thing.

You cannot apply US law on one side of it, and then exclude US law on the other side of it. It has to be an all or nothing. Either they are covered by US law and they can claim rights under that, or they cannot be under US law in which case someone should give them back their damn website.

You realize that you just argued against your position, and stated what other have been saying about this since the first story was posted so many weeks ago?

I once took a picture of something my dog left in the yard. (it looked like Jesus). Does this mean that I can now sue anyone whom has taken a picture of dog shit, or of something which resembles Jesus?

More than likely this has something to do with the fact that she (Melissa)has been seen hanging out with Reggie Bush, whom apparently Kim Kardashian was previously dating.
