She tweeted these images in response to a journalist's comparison of her party to terrorists. This was meant to indicate her party wasn't actually involved in the execution and torture of political and religious enemies, unlike ISIS.
I agree with the article. She shouldn't be prosecuted for this.
But I also recognize that when a demagogue whips up fear and hatred against a minority to increase their own political fortunes, there's nothing wrong with pointing out that they bear some responsibility for what happens next.
The Quebec City massacre last year was carried out by a big Marine Le Pen / Donald Trump fan who bought into their anti-immigrant / anti-Muslim propaganda.
Her immunity should be tied to a related issue: Can those criticizing her expect immunity too?
There was no shortage of people questioning whether Obama could legally receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Especially given that it came with a large financial reward. So....
It helped that two previous sitting presidents, a sitting vice president, a Secretary of State and a U.S. Senator had previously won the Peace Prize.
Obama donated the financial reward to charity.
Ajit Pai broke the rules by accepting the expensive handmade gun from the NRA. Obama did not break the rules, and first did the legal checks to ensure that he did not break the rules.
By the same reasoning, this problem would go away if the EU Commission simply gave European governments one day to stop terrorism within their borders.
It's not about revenue; it's about accountability.
Palin and Santorum used to complain about the lib'rul lamestream media dishonestly attacking them by quoting them verbatim. The Trump clown car does it on a daily basis, issuing denials that Trump ever said what he said on camera or Twitter the day before.
Fox News cheerfully backs those lies, while adding an assortment of their own.
Fox isn't losing revenue to TVEyes. This is about the horror of having their own words, and those of Trump, Palin and others searchable and quoted back to them.
Abu Ghraib torturer Rick Saccone is now the GOP nominee in Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district. Backed by the President too. And he's leading the polls.
Now I wonder whether he'd have been prosecuted if he'd merely joked about committing war crimes.
Problem turned out to be that people are very inventive when it comes to saying something without actually saying it. Every one knows what it means but the precise trigger words aren't there.
That's not stopping the censors, human or automated. With people criticizing the removal of term limits to make President Xi emperor for life, censored term now include:
Admittedly, that feels a little lazy on the part of the judge to basically ask the prevailing party to write his order, but I'm sure HBO's lawyers are thrilled with the opportunity to make sure it says exactly what they want.
I hope that Mr. Nutterbutter is credited for crafting the proposed orders.
Do you also support Mexico taking over the US side of the border to stop the flow of guns and drug money into their country?
Refugees have been crossing the border into Canada by the thousands over the last year or so. There's a lot of guns flowing north too. Do you support Canada setting up a DMZ on the US side of the border?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Posted No Trespassing - addendum - Trespassers will be SHOT
To be fair we're talking about a southern state, specifically Texas. The thing he's most wrong about is "If they don't want to be shot, they go to the front gate..."
In 1994 Andrew de Vries from Scotland knocked on a door in Houston to ask for directions. He was shot through the door and killed. The homeowner was never indicted.
Over in Louisiana in 1992, Japanese exchange student Takuma Ito knocked on a door. No answer. While walking away, the homeowner opened the door and shot and killed him. The homeowner was charged, but found not guilty.
Those would probably put the property owners in jail in northern states. Or in any western democracy. Or third world countries. But the south is... different.
If they go through all the hassle of rigging an RFID reader to a car bomb so that the next American passport that wanders past triggers it, they're not going to want it set off by an RFID code used to inventory bags of Doritos.
