Local Albuquerque news has broadcast some scenes of Sunday night-Monday a.m. destruction (windows broken, spray painting, etc. in sleepy downtown, oddly not in a wealthy area of the city). I'm hoping people recognized the young fascists and call in tips. Further, the thugs being arrested I hope are charged heavy fines and given hefty prison terms... with maybe some time off for squealing on who paid them, gave them weapons and helped them come into town. The many peaceful protesters (all races, including children), who were out Sunday afternoon, should be easy to find if need be as they have important things to say and have been on camera for interviews.

Perhaps Bloomberg[sp?] will run with this!
Considering how poorly CBS has treated its viewers in recent years (by which I mean CBS kills good shows and also delays entire last seasons of other shows they've killed) -- I'm surprised they have any viewers at all. I decided after the last episode of Elementary that I'd never watch any CBS show again. Indeed, these days I don't watch any new show on any OTA network for fear such shows may be too smart for programmers and the shows will disappear.
Re: Re: 'Clearly only a partisan hack would make me look bad.'
And, of course, Trump's is the Most Transparent Administration Evah in the History of the U S of A! Just ask him! (But... don't ask him for his tax returns, Mueller's unredacted report, or quite a lot of other things he's sure we don't need to know about...)
...from several sites I enjoyed visiting, I went away, too. Often, on Business Insider, for example, the comments are far more interesting and informative than the stories. But one day on that and other similar sites, the comments disappeared and the sites showed me how boring they actually are. I found that Twitter has the commentary I enjoy reading by thoughtful, creative (and often cat-owning) people who interest me. I wish I could spend more time there. Also comments under YouTube videos can be interesting though I can't preselect who I wish to read from or mute/block idiots.
I never call a scammer as I might wind up paying for the call (since they usually come on my landline). One thing I enjoy doing is watching scam baiting videos on YouTube. There are a growing number of folks fighting back and recording their conversations. These are turned into videos in a number of clever ways. They show how to waste scammer time, and time is all a scammer has to steal money. If they spend an hour or more with you, that is a lot of time they can't use lying to your grandma or elderly neighbor. Also some skilled hackers have actually penetrated scammer networks and done a lot of damage (and videotaped it). Still others gather information, including video of rooms full of scammers, and turn it over to the police, usually in India, and occasionally the police actually act on it (raiding and closing down operations). So since any plan Telcos come up with they will likely charge for (and it won't work), either get an answering machine (to receive valid robocalls) or do answer it with a plan once you have been prepared with examples from YouTube. Basically, don't give a scammer real information. Don't worry about lying to them, either, as "John Williams" with the heavy Hindu accent is most certainly lying to you in order to steal your $$$.
A fun way to spend some time is visit YouTube and search "Scam Baiting". More and more people are fighting back in clever ways and posting their efforts on videos. Some hackers (and one must be quite skilled) are destroying scammer computers by turning the tables on those who lie, cheat and steal. Other baiters are doing deep investigations of scamming companies and posting what they find. If governments can't/won't stop scammers for whatever reason, then regular folks can warn the elderly and other innocent people and keep them from becoming victims. Hey, even stores like Target warn folks who want to purchase a large number of iTunes and other cards that the IRS does not accept such payments...
Referees and those who guide balloonists at our annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta are called "Zebras" because they wear black-and-white striped shirts and walk around the balloon field helping balloonists and tourists (all of whom are usually quite well behaved). Such zebras might actually be of help to the proceedings!
Re: Simple way to change Trump's position on Forfeiture
Better for a greedy law officer to go after one of trump's kids who has managed to escape Secret Service protection so he/she can have some fun that, oh, smells like MJ. A fancy car and wallet full of $$ forfeited for even a while would raise a ruckus that couldn't be covered up forever. Secret Service, already tired of trumpish antics, might look the other way for a while as local news/citizen journalists investigate.
Re: Well if Civil Asset Forfeiture is fine, lets see how Trump feels if it's done to him
Of course, as you know, none of those wealthy folks in trump's cabinet will suffer any from the consequences of their actions (at least, not obviously). They will remain in the 1%.
First, he picked them because they are richer than he is (or his taxes would say otherwise), and so he can look down his nose at them and boss them around and they have to comply or leave. They won't leave because they'll be missing out on the extra $$$$$$$ (and I don't mean salary).
Second, he can get tips from them on how to sidestep any and all consequences for actions taken against others because they have been working in the background for so long they know the ins and outs of how to lie, cheat, steal, destroy, etc., even better than he does.
Fortunately(?), the one thing they can't do is escape the consequences of their part in destroying the environment. They, too, have to breathe, drink and eat the toxins they have so thoughtlessly poured onto the earth and into the air and seas. As the old saying goes, what goes around comes around -- even for god's chosen, as they surely think they are.
trump's biggest fans are so proud that (according to them) he doesn't use a teleprompter. That may be why he says silly (or worse) things so frequently. Maybe he needs an on-all editor
As someone who has transcribed court hearings as well as conversations between police officers and witnesses and potential, um, accused folks, I wonder if whoever transcribed the original police interview was questioned by the Bar. In my business we give the customer (be it a lawyer for a plaintiff, a prosecutor or whoever pays for the transcript) a print out or we email a PDF, and append a certificate that says "this is what we heard" and we sign off on it. Murray may have scanned and changed the document or had someone do it for him, and submitted the results to the court, keeping the signed certificate. Thus I wonder if the Bar asked the transcriptionist (or her/his company) for the original to do a comparison. I also wonder if the transcriptionist or her/his company might sue Murray for making them look incompetent with his prank. He might not feel sorry for the child he hurt, but a lawsuit could sting and add more bad publicity for him to deal with.
"The left collectively..." Which "left" are you talking about? My branch of "the left", the Green Party, certainly never does that. But you wouldn't know that because there was so little coverage of Jill Stein et al. and what the party stands for.
I wish commenters on forums wouldn't use sweeping generalities because lumping a large group of people together under one name just shows how weak the argument is.
When people wanted to -- and *did!* -- vote third party, the "major" party candidates and their fans called such voters and their preferred candidates all kinds of unkind names. It happens every time. I recall being warned against voting for Nader, I believe, in 2004, or Bush would win (no, Gore lost). Rather than warn us about Pence, for example, a lot of pro-Hillary pundits just used the argument of "nobody votes for 'third-party' candidates so they don't win so nobody votes for them." They can't argue their "major" candidate is better, they can only argue how less evil he or she is than the "major" opponent. So Clinton and her friends were really her own worst enemies.
I agree, Falindraun, except where it applies to those hypocrites who would demand the rest of us obey their rules while they themselves are ignoring them.
I think next year will also be the year of "don't blame me, I didn't vote for him!" (even though many of those who claim that actually did vote for him, threatened civil war if he lost, and crowed about his win, too...).
