For some reason, this harks back to the apocryphal compiler message:
"Too many errors on one line (make fewer)"
Perhaps instead of griping about how many bugs people find, they'd make fewer instead. Could work. Or maybe even hire some professional QA engineers to look for them first.
It's no stretch to call someone being hustled into an unmarked van by unidentified people an abduction. Since that's illegal (and unlawful), I'd fully expect the "Law and Order" types to want to the bottom of what happened, and as quickly as possible.
Since I also don't see that happening, they must not really care about Law or Order.
Re: Sometimes there are reasons to lock down a device
The warranty angle only works while it runs- a 10 year old machine isn't going to be covered anyway. A better approach might be to shield the manufacturer only if the "repair" can be independently shown to have caused the tort.
Or... the manufacturers could just support their products at a reasonable cost and under reasonable conditions.
Yabut, a corporation does not need to have employees. You, as the owner, can take a dividend whenever you want. That'll be taxed as personal income. As for the rest- SSI (SDI?) is only if you have employees. Same for medicare and W-2s. I-9 forms don't need to be "processed" at all. A one-owner shop can do a lot without employees.
And for any expenses, you build that into what you charge and move on.
Uber simply hasn't offered enough money. If it's worth litigating, the "trademark" is probably worth at least $1m, so that's a good starting place for negotiating. Oh, and her legal fees in addition.
Almost all journalists are denied White House access, no matter who the President is.
They are not "denied" access if they never ask for it. Most commenters seem to have missed that, and I'll posit that of the 33K+ full-time reporters in the US, less than 5% have even asked for the pass.
