"If these tech companies can't create their own worthwhile content, what are they besides parasites?
If they are that reliant on infringement to make money, then they obviously have a very bad business model, don't they?
This is basic stuff.
I suggest they adapt and figure out a worthy reason to stay at the table, or go the way of the dinosaur."
Name me one COMPANY that creates content. They have people who create content and then the company publishes or distributes it.
Content is created by people using tools that companies make. Just because the content wasn't distributed by your beloved RIAA/MPAA, etc, doesn't make it any less worthwhile.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Can't even post videos of your kids singing at church
In short, no.
Now I've been a church choir director and never had to get licensing from ASCAP, our CCLI covered music purchased and presented as part of the church service. This was yeas ago and may have changed...
Which all points to they support the bills but aren't saying so publicly. They want to give the illusion to customers that they don't. I would bet my favorite hat that if we could get a bug on the wall in their boardroom when they discuss these bills, that they support them wholeheartedly.
"However, when they know they will be voted out, they will usually cave in to public pressure."
Um... no they won't, because they don't think they will be voted out, ever. They pretty much figure that once they have the big companies' support, they are on easy street. Besides, if they get voted out, there is always a good paying position available from one of their "sponsers"
Re: Re: My best movie theater experience of the year
Oops.. it cut off the rest.
total cost was less that $40 and that included a 16oz beer that I could drink while watching the movie. Now the movie was not a first run movie (this weekend we're taking the kids to see Puss in Boots for example), but it was still the best movie experience I've had since our first date at the drive in 20 years ago. :)
Oh.. by that you must be referring to this article, http://www.lbpost.com/life/greggory/1218, which says "9:45am | Police Chief Jim McDonnell has confirmed that detaining photographers for taking pictures "with no apparent esthetic value" is within Long Beach Police Department policy." Is THAT the article that doesn't say anything about detaining them?
I'd like to order a couple of Wydens for my state, is Oregon going to be making any more or do you guys want the monopoly on politicians with heads outside their asses?
The problem isn't politicians with their heads up their own asses, it's that they have their heads up their corporate masters' asses.
