Do you really think the leaders of these organizations have gone from hiding in a compounds and using only trusted messengers that hand deliver messages, to instead just grabbing nearest phone and setting up a conference call? Next they are going to want me to believe they intercepted a top terrorists Skype video conference.
What I find funny is they sat down and came to the conclusion this was "practical". So trying to spy on everyone and send popups is practical, but offering a good streaming service with ALL their content at reasonable price... that is not practical?

I would also like to take this moment to point out something you seem to have missed.

I think it is worth pointing out that most people here would be more than willing to have an intelligent discussion. The reason most people report these post is because of your "holier than thou" tone. This results in us having no sympathy when your comments get hidden.

Follow that up by our government feeling the need to promise "we won't torture or kill him"..... It seems like every day I get up and loose a little more respect for the government. I'm not even sure how it is possible anymore really....

I think maybe it is time for those that are in government to sit down and study a little history. They obviously have lost sight of the core values this country was built on, and if they do not go back to those values.... I think the Declaration of Independence is quite clear on what happens next.
I really think it is time for the tech companies to get together and just stare down the government.

Well how about we stop and look at your IP law gives incentive to make new drugs. It is a good thought at first.... but stop and think about it for a minute.
You run a drug company developing new drugs. You will own the patent on the drug and make money for each pill sold. So, knowing your profits are tied to # of pills, do you:
A) Work on developing a cure for cancer that after taking the medication the patient recovers and no longer needs the drug.
OR
B) Work on a "treatment" for cancer that will not cure the person but instead mask the symptoms and make them reliant on your drug for the rest of their life.
The point is, relying on profits as the motivation for new drugs..... is a really really really bad idea. I can promise you that there are plenty of people that would take option B. Most will not admit it openly, but I'm willing to bet it has happened more than once.
What really amazes me about all this is that they did seem to screw thing up bad enough to make Kim Dotcom come out looking like the good guy. I'm not even sure how they did it. Kim Dotcom is not exactly a likable character, and yet I still find myself cheering for him.

The reason I noticed the disappearance of MegaUpload when it got taken down was due to me looking for Android ROMs. You know.... TOTALLY LEGAL CONTENT. Finally had to give up my search because everywhere I would go to look for the roms I would find they had been hosted on Mega.

I would say a fair number of people are attacking Google glass. Yes, it could be used to violate privacy, but why the focus on Google glass? Instead you see them protesting Google glass, a device with a lot of really great potential for many things. Taking pictures and recording video is just one feature, a feature I would probably rarely even use if I had a pair.

This system has you first get on Tor, hiding your identity, you then upload files that are encrypted to a server(you know, as in the people who own server cant see what it is because umm ITS ENCRYPTED) Then the people at The New Yorker check the box and download the still encrypted data, they then move it to a special computer that is not even online, there they can finally decrypt it.
So, where is this "man in the middle" going to grab the data?
