Methinks you have that just a tad bass-ackwards, mister voice.
If you look at your example, you can see that it was you who hired the psychologist, and that the information about your mental health is yours, not his.
You seem to forget that it was We the People who hired the federal government, and that the information they withhold from us, for whatever reason, is still the property of the citizenry, not of those who We the People employed to maintain the security of the nation and our own well being.
The government has no more right to disclose classified information - information pertinent to the safety of the American people - than your psychologist has to disclose your mental instability diagnosis - information pertinent to your well being.
The fact that you feel government to be an entity unto itself without responsibility to the people it was hired by, or for the job it was hired to do, says a great deal about your fascist beliefs and utter lack of humanity.
I think there may be some misconception delivered in this article.
If you will note, all the above persons were members of the Ruling Class, of Government, or simply wealthy men of power.
While it can be stated that they were all citizens, they were definitely not considered to be part of the general rabble - the public.
You see, the government and business have no intention whatsoever of Not using encryption in their communications.
If banned, it will be banned only for public usage.
It is only the public - Fascist Enemy Number One - The Adversary - The Great Wallet - who must exist without encryption in its communications, to facilitate easy exploitation and control by the ruling class parasites.
All legislation which attempts to end or limit encryption will necessarily include this simple division of Us and Them, if not by clear language, then by omission.
Perhaps it is now time for the "Sixth Eye", a secret global association of civilian "2-man cells", whose purpose is to use high tech surveillance equipment like drone cameras, stingray devices, wire-taps, and quiet computer intrusions, to watch the watchers and movers and shakers and release the results on the web, when the people who make the laws, break the laws.
The only way that the rulers and lords of the land will ever consider surveillance to be an intrusion of privacy is when it is their privacy that is threatened with intrusion.
Sadly, thinking for yourself wins you no friends, and the freedom you feel from doing so, stops at your skin.
I'm always amazed by how very smart people can use their intelligence to keep themselves ignorant, simply to remain in good standing social-wise and avoid ostracism.
Lets face it, the vast majority of us do not want to be viewed as boat-rockers and trouble-makers and shit-disturbers, nor are most of us willing to even consider the idea that those who wield power in our name, do so without our best interests at heart, so we always conform and accept fully, the official veracity of the Pretty Lie, over the obvious veracity of the Ugly Truth.
It is apparently our nature, and thus, the key to trapping the lion's share of us within our own self-made limitations and delusions, for fun and profit, by the most self-serving of those who do think for themselves.
Re: Really this is just a fitting contrast to any article regarding police brutality.
Aint that strange.
On TV, both dancers' faces are blurred out, but there they both are, live and in person, being utterly human and awesome, on video, on the web, undisguised.
What a strange world we have made here. Normally on TV, only the faces of criminals are blurred.
(and in truth, I'd have to vote the cop as the winner - both for the dance-off and for the respect he just got from an entire nation)
"...War on Cops" -- the bogus theory that cops are being targeted and killed more frequently simply because they're cops..."
That can't be right. Why just last night I watched at least 6 TV shows that were specifically about recently released bad guys, stalking and killing the cops who put them in prison. Its a pigdemic out there!!!!
If you can't beat 'em, steal their ball and hide it.
"It's basically the antidote to the Sherry Turkles and Nick Carrs and Jaron Laniers of the world insisting that tech is somehow dumbing us down."
Actually, technology makes the folks above feel dumber, because they can no longer talk down to kids and most other adults, and in fact, are talked down to BY kids and most other adults.
They just want to stop the "smart", because they can't catch up.
"...And applying it will only create more problems."
Ah. Its always nice to see that at least one person has figured out the true purpose of the legislation.
By enacting laws that create more of the problems it pretends to eradicate, one can eventually make the original claim that allowed the law to be enacted, a reality.
Just like the War on Drugs eventually created a world where drugs are visibly an every day reality, eventually people WILL start to shoot cops - out of simple self preservation of course - which will "PROVE" via vast and continuous coverage in the Truth Free Press, that people ARE shooting Cops, justifying the introduction of more fascist friendly, freedom killing laws.
Just as the War on Terror's continuous Drone Bombings of innocent civilians all over the world, will eventually convince the survivors of these clandestine mass murders, to start using the same devices - gleefully sold to them by America's government - to anonymously attack American citizens in the same fashion, and create that essential PROOF that the War on Terror advocates need to get more funding and convince the public that more and stricter fascist friendly freedom killing laws are needed.
War on Cyber Crime War on Copyright Infringers War on Radicalization War on Dissent War on Encryption War on Anti-Corporate Speech War on Anti-Government Speech War on Self Medication War on Impure Thought War on Hoarding War on ..... War on, War on, War on, War on, and on and on...
In order to make laws that promote the fascist agenda of legalized population control, it is almost always necessary to manufacture and promote a "problem", until the public demands that legislation be enacted to fight that problem.
Its a business model that works every time.
So better get used to it, cuz it aint going away till it stops working and stops making the REAL crooks rich.
"While it's entirely possible that the debate about encryption will still be going on by then, it seems like this tidbit of information would be better served if it could be seen and debated by the public today rather than a year from now, when there's a good chance the crux of this debate will be over."
Amazing how similar that statement is to the statement made to the government employee who is handling the request, by his boss, who said;
"While it's entirely possible that the debate about encryption will still be going on by then, it seems like this tidbit of information would better served us, if it is not seen or debated by the public until a year from now, when there's a good chance the crux of this debate will be over."
"... the constitution is the supreme law of the land and no law can supercede or circumvent the constitution.
You probably missed it, but, well, you see, after 9/11, the federal government gave themselves the "right" to rewrite the constitution, according to their new needs, due to 9/11.
They didn't actually tell anyone what parts of the Constitution they changed, or what the new definitions actually mean because, well, you see, druggies and terrorists and infringers and hackers are all American Citizens and, well, since the federal government is waging a war on those folks, the feds have to keep the new interpretation of the constitution secret, lest the information fall into the hands of the enemy.
So while the constitution may indeed be the supreme law of the land, it might behoove you to learn exactly what the government's new definition of the words therein mean, before you go around screaming about how its sacred and all that.
For all you know, the new Constitution - and thus the law of the land - may now contain words to the effect that anyone
- who posts using a dash - at the left border of the screen - to delineate a "point" - more than once per post - can be shot on sight - by any duly authorized LEO.
It looks to me like the US federal government is using all their fancy spy gear, specifically to find targets of opportunity to drone bomb - anyone, anywhere, anytime.
With a 90% collateral damage rate, they could replace their multi-billion dollar a year "intelligence efforts" with a coin toss, and bring the murder rate of innocent civilian bystanders down to a 50/50 chance.
I can hardly wait till the politicians realize that giving the snoop and scoop agencies carte blanche rights to spy on everyone, will include themselves no matter how much legislation they produce to make themselves immune to surveillance.
It will be extremely comical to watch the millionaires in office try to stop the spies from tapping their phones and reading their mail by making new laws, only to learn months later that the spies ignored the laws because they operate outside the law.
If the spies got the tools, they are gonna use 'em, no matter what the law might say, cuz that's what they do.
When that first really big leak happens, and a hack team steals the surveilled cache of innermost secrets of a busload of millionaire politicians from the snoop and scoop archives and starts spreading the data on the web for all and sundry to peruse at leisure, then we will truly hear some intense screaming from the 1%, of "foul play", "illegal", "treason", "breech of trust", and more, echoing all the terms the public has been using to describe the snoop and scoop scam since Snowden woke the world up.
The situation will be no better, and likely will be far worse by then, but at least the general public will finally get to point their finger at the 1% and laugh their collective asses off for a change.
Re: Re: Fascism 101 - Tell the lie officially, repeatedly, and soon, its accepted as the truth.
"They have done the EXACT SAME THING with due process."
Actually, they have done the exact same thing with almost everything that made America, America. Its just another Fascist dictatorship now, pretending to be America through the Truth Free Press and Hollywood movies.
However, I still think the real blame for it all rests with We The People, for letting them do it and making excuses for why We The People should let them do it - over and over again.
Stupidity, greed and ignorance are definitely reasons, but they are not excuses.
And I believe that as long as We The People continue to blame "them" for results caused by "our" lack of responsible reaction, things will only get worse.
Yeah, I guess "innocent until proven guilty" is just another in a long line of lost and obsolete ideals, like "due process", "civil rights".... the list just keeps getting longer.... that have gone the way of the Dodo due to the War on Druggie Cyber Infringer Terrorists.
When The United States of America no longer practices any of the ideals of American democracy at home, that it claims to be protecting abroad by stationing troops in every other country on earth and invading any nation that has no nukes, you just know there is something not kosher going on.
Now if only we could put our finger on what that thing is...
How on earth are they planning to convince politicians to STOP accepting 10-20 thousand dollar bribes and 100,000 dollar gifts, for favors that are perfectly legal to perform??
How do you propose to stop Hollywood from offering cushy post politics positions of power, that demand neither expertise nor labor of any sort, but promise a 6 digit annual income, in return for legal and political favors today??
You have to realize that today, corruption is the equivalent to a second income with bonuses (tax-free), for most of the people working for government, or as government, or in the legal professions - the very people who propose and enact legislation.
While it would normally take half a life time for a judge to save enough money to buy that lovely chalet in Spain, overlooking the sea, he can now do it in just a few years by taking money on the side for making preselected judgements that favor Hollywood, Drug Warriors, and federal government spies.
How on earth are you ever gonna get them back on the farm, once they've tasted American corruption and graft, if you cannot even pass laws that make the process illegal??
