You know what makes it very easy to break laws? Shoes. Sure, it's theoretically possible to break laws without wearing shoes, but you cannot tell me that shoemakers did not know from the beginning that shoes were going to make it much easier to break laws.
Being recorded in a public street gives people an account of what you are doing, be it soliciting for whores, buying candy from strangers, going into a sex shop, or kicking a puppy.
Being recorded in a courtroom gives people an account of you being in a courtroom.
How about going thru my stack of clothing and instead of giving it away, I destroy it and then publicly declare how happy I am that the homeless aren't wearing it?
That said, I think I'm going to buy an inexpensive USB keyboard and swap the keys into DVORAK and carry it around at the office and see how that goes - still... I'm going to have to carry a keyboard driver everywhere.
I tried DVORAK once. I actually memorized (tried to) the layout because I couldn't be bothered, but once I got to typing I immediately noticed how much more efficient it was, and how much less impact on my joints was felt.
But I couldn't be bothered to change my keyboard. I also don't have any say on how my keyboard looks at work, and am occasionally forced to use other peoples' keyboards (trying to get used to 2 completely different layouts is a nightmare).
So that's the real reason DVORAK isn't used, because people can't be bothered, to change their keyboards or learn typing again, or having to cope with other people's keyboards that aren't in DVORAK yet. But DVORAK is definitely superior, and people would use them if they weren't already used to QWERTY. Quite different from "give people what they want" with VHS.
A t-shirt is a scarce good. You can have one of it. Then you can sell it, and you have none. If someone makes 100,000 t-shirts, they spend raw materials needed for 1 t-shirt times 100,000. It doesn't matter if it costs 50 cents or $50. You also spend the time to make each t-shirt, times 100,000. I think people learn that in grade school.
You never learned it? Ok, let's try again:
Let's say you have 5 apples. You give me one apple. How many apples you have left?
Is there a shortage of apples? Of course not! There are hundreds of apples in the supermarket. And cheap! That doesn't mean you have an unlimited supply of apples. YOU have 4 apples left.
To all the people that said "if you want to complain you have to pay", "it is okay for free services to have bad service", this part of the reply says it all:

Straight from the horse's mouth: YOU ARE ALL WRONG.
And kudos to Rick Klau for caring and trying to fix the issue, eventually.
