Actually, I think we should stop making fun of naive peoples' websites. It comes across the wrong way, like "Hey, you're ugly!" It might be ok in comments, but I feel a little uncomfortable reading that in the main article.
"Hell, why not just mandate that every human being in the US walk around with a camera and microphone recording everything they say and do -- all automatically shipped off to NSA headquarters at Ft. Meade for analysis?"
Once it becomes technologically easy to do that, it will suddenly become necessary.
It's one thing to let someone use a derivative or a satire of your mouse (maybe Disney has heard of Ms. Streisand), and another thing entirely to let that someone trademark it. I don't have much problem with Disney on this one.
By the way I always thought deadmau5's hat was related to Mickey, similar to Mortimer the Mouse in Bloom County -- an intentional jab at Disney.
My browser shows the Amazon cloud document readers, which use javascript. But you can't download the source pdf's from the readers because Amazon is Amazon. I have to go into the page source to find the links because they're inside /noscript tags, which aren't rendered if your browser execs javascript. It's a fallback, kind of like an image alt tag. Other people have the same problem, so sometimes I post them in comments.
Articles like this are why I keep up my membership to TechDirt. It's a full-time job dispelling all the bullshit put out by the full-time bullshitters. I don't have that kind of time but I sure as hell am glad TechDirt is there for us. Thanks TechDirt!
