I don't think the police were letting those two leave until they'd had a chance to search them for something to rob. If they tried to leave, or didn't eventually allow the search, they'd taze them for resisting arrest or something. Rights are lovely, but meaningless if they aren't upheld by those in charge of upholding them.
The reason they're reaching deep for the crazy, is that's what works. There's now tons of rabid tea partiers who are violently opposed to the socialism of obamacare for the internet.

One of my Uber drivers pointed out that a lot of cab drivers here in Boston failed Uber's existing background check. Uber is already at a higher standard.
Interestingly enough, it appears that an unexpected event caused the loss of the hard disc containing that email chain. Oddly, it only affected that particular email chain. Funny that!
Let's face it, American news stinks. If it takes these comedians poking fun at our politics to help us understand what's really going on, I'm all for it. Thank you Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and John Oliver!
State police in every state routinely stop cars with out of state license plates. Those are the ones who are less likely to come back to that state to go to court to contest the fines and tickets.
