Re: "“Pacific Rim,” which featured giant robots, seemed to share DNA with “Transformers.”"
Haven't seen the movie yet. But from the trailers it would seem to me to share the same DNA as transformers.
Basically giant robots beating the crap out of each other.
Like I said I've not seen the movie so maybe I've got it wrong and this is actually a well acted and directed film with a strong story.
From the trailers it appeared to me to be Battlefield Los Angeles meets the Transformers.
What I thought this was about the NSA... Not quantum physics
Wait...I get it. By using quantum physics analogies the truly stupid will not be able to form any argument. It must be working since I notice the surprising lack of trolls so far. Or perhaps I just haven’t read any of their comments so they don’t exist until I read their comments then. Wonderful wonderful world of quantum mechanics!!!
Yeah. It cost me $ to replace my friends record, but it was worth it. We waited for the bell to ring at the end of class. We knew that the teacher had his "break period" after this class. So when everyone had left we quickly hijacked the PA system. We left the record player running and went to our next class, sat down and pretended to be innocent.
There were quite a few and still are many Internet filter applications. One of the first I had experience with was called CyberNanny. This kept blocking www.whitehouse.gov. The offensive phrase/word was "couples".
This has been one of the biggest problems with Internet nanny systems is that they do not have the AI to discriminate...I mean even humans are still debating what constitutes obscene, so I don't know why people think that there is a magic push button the Internet that Google or any other technological entity can simply push and magically make all the bad sites go away. Sometimes the stupidity of people (especially those in power) astounds me.
When my electronics teacher was summoned via the PA system to go home on an emergeny. Somehow we got it in our heads to play a joke.
We took the speaker on the PA system apart and (being the geeks and nerds that we were) we managed to override the PA system so that we could broadcast anything we wanted to. My friend had just bought his AC/DC album and brought it to school with him. The teacher had a record player which we wired up to the the PA system.
It took administrators nearly an hour to shut the PA system down and to find our radio station. The entire school got to listen to Dirty Deeds as well as AC/DC's song about their bowling league Big Balls.
[Sigh] Gone are those days of harmless pranks. I'm pretty sure if I was to have done the same thing in today's world it would be caught on tape and I would be charged with terrorism or hacking and end up fined and in jail.
That an assassination (drone or no drone) could be ordered against a US citizen just because that citizen is outside of the United States is abhorrent.
Perhaps the DOJ is thinking of Ed Snowden as their first test target.

The legislative branch created and voted on this law.
The executive branch did not veto and is enforcing it.
The judicial branch has interpreted it as the law.
Sorry. It may be a piece of shit but it is still the law.
In other words even with the checks and balances of the Constitution we can still end up with crap laws (Patriot act) being passed and enforced.
I do not normally respond to trolls. But sometimes I just have to indulge myself.
Mike was not yelling at everyone to start pirating music because an artist decided to "go on strike" against Spotify. Instead, he made the point that people have many other artists to choose from and if people really want the music that got pulled they may naturally turn to unauthorized sources.
As far as making pirates into victims. I'm not sure what you mean. Mike was just pointing out that this artist is shooting themselves in the foot by pulling their music from Spotify.
Sorry that information is classified for your own protection.
We don't want terrorists to know what evil plots were foiled -- that way when they try the same tatic again we will be able to thwart them again. I'm sure you understand that this is for your protection.

What I meant was there MAY be a business opportunity to set up a Microwave Internet option and spurn the cable and telcos with faster speeds, better pricing, etc.
I live in Southern Utah. So maybe the bandwidth options are better here. Maybe that's why the NSA decided to create a giant data spying machine in my back yard -- perhaps due to decent Internet speeds.
