My goodness, has it really been 12 years since the music industry started whinging about downloads? (It took an extra year to filter through to Australia back then)
My goodness, has it really been 20 years since I first saw the tag "Renting this CD deprives he artist of income"? (I used to wonder how that worked, what with video rentals)
My goodness, has it really been 30 years since "Home Taping is Killing Music"? Took long enough! That's before my time, too..... I wasn't around for anything previous.
Isn't there a saying about being doomed to repeat history? I can't think of the exact phrase right now, but it's probably copyrighted anyway, so I wouldn't be allowed to say it.
They're already having hissy fits over MEGA. Just the word MEGA is evil to them. I'd better hide my MEGA MIX records. Not to mention my MEGA BYTES of data.....
Sorry for stating the obvious, but of course we won't hear from the people who's privacy may be violated: They don't have money so "nobody" gives a shit!
Useless trivia, the Dalek stories were mostly skipped over when a repeat screening of old "Doctor Who" occurred in Australia in 2003-2005 because there was a copyright and royalties dispute between the BBC and the Estate of Terry Nation. Even "The War Games" was skipped (a whopping 10 episodes) because a Dalek appeared in ONE SCENE! (source: Wikipedia)(and I was watching, too)
"Proof" that the DMCA was no good is the fact that the first two words of it's name are just buzzwords that were big at the time, especially "Millenium"!
I know the new name for the proposed tax on "mature" video games. It's called "Revenue Raising". Seriously, do you think the money raised would really be used for the intended purposes?
I don't really care for either Monster Cable or Deafening Dolby..... What? Then what does the other D stand for in their logo?
Anyway, I would side in Dolby in this case. Plus, let's face it, they have come up with a lot of good sound based innovations over the years. What has Monster Cable ever done?
Shareholders can take some earnings from the company they hold shares in. Fair enough, that's the good part of the share market. The stupid part is when you buy shares with the sole intention of selling them later in the hopes of making a profit. That's how you can loose lots of money. In fact, you need lots of money in the first place. If you hold on to the shares and collect the dividends, then you won't loose any money. In fact, you will make money. Slowly, yes, but steadily, especially in a company that is very stable. Whereas, if you buy and sell constantly, thus "playing" the share market, you're essentially gambling with your money. So, to me, the price of the share doesn't matter. It's how much it pays off in dividends that matters. So if you've got money and you're looking to the stock market to make more money, either invest long term or you might as well take a holiday in Vegas.
Exactly! I've been thinking of starting "Dexter" anyway and just watching a season (or two) but then take a break for a couple of weeks before watching the next.....
I often watch a full season of a show over the course of a week. Heck, I've been holding out watching some shows just so I can watch the whole season in a week or two after it finishes airing.
Downside? I've been holding out on "Dexter" since it first started as I want to watch every episode of every season non-stop.
Off topic, but we had a SodaStream back in 1985 (Australian). Cool product. Easy to use. And yummy. But their Australian ads for it are terrible and nowhere near as creative.
Here in Australia, we've had the option to use recycled paper toilet paper for at least the last 20 years. Personally I use a brand called "Safe". It's cheap and soft and, yes, off-white If you're in Australia, give it a try.
