I just got a Roku box this week, plus I have an XBox on another TV. I'm not paying the DISH bill this month - I'm done with paying $80/month and rarely finding anything to watch. Hell, I've already queued up way more than I can possibily watch in the next year on Hulu+. The Rockford Files from start to finish? Hell yeah!
The only place I may suffer is Big 10 Sports, but I'm hoping Big 10 Network will offer a streaming service again this year. If not, there is Sports Bar within walking distance.
I think the issue with the Cubs is that the other owners were working together to make sure Cuban didn't win. The last thing the old boys club wanted was somebody like Cuban coming in and screwing with the status quo.
Hill notes that Perry might not be willing to take on this issue, due to his own presidential aspirations...
So standing up for Civil Rights (even if it is mostly grandstanding) is a losing position for a politician? That probably tells you everything you need to know about the sorry state of our country.
//some of my instructors in college (80's) were so disgusted with the state of certain textbooks back then that they wrote their own. where are these guys now?"//
Odds are they go fat and happy on textbook royalties and are at least indirectly connected to the publishes filing suit.
You have to love an issue that has Rand Paul and Bernie Sanders voting on the same side! If you are curious, the list above is 4 Democrats, 3 Republicans, and 1 Socialist.
This will be fun to enforce, given that there is no way for Facebook or any other social network to really know where you live, and thus no way to know which accounts to enforce the rule on. If I live in TX but claim I live in CA when I open a Facebook account, which states laws apply, and is FB liable for not knowing I was lying if I live in CA but list WA aas my residence when I open the account?
So Congress cuts off funding for scanners, forcing TSA to hire a bunch more people to grope us. Since a Federal bureaucracy's power is directly related to its headcount, I fail to see how this is a bad thing for TSA. If I were conspiracy minded, I might even wonder if it's all part of "The Plan."
I have DISH. I was just last month that I realized I was getting Starz free all year. They didn't do much to let customers know about the free movies for a year. (It's in celebration of DISH's 20th anniversary I think.)
If it wasn't for live sports I'd be so ready to disconnect the TV for good.
It has nothing to do with money. This is a way for the House to shut down the program and reduce visibility into what they are doing, while blaming it on the budget. The last thing Congress wants is for the American people to have clarity into what they are doing.
Amazon is actually pretty good about supporting Linux. There is a Linux client for downloader app, and I've never had any problem accessing S3 from Linux. I imagine a decent Linux client will come available shortly.
There needs to be a penalty for introducing laws that are found unconstitutional. Generally speaking, I think we'd be much better off if the fear of the penalty caused state and national legislators to be much more prudent in the use of their signature to sponsor legislation. Something like, I don't know, making them ineligible to run for office again, although that would probably require a constitutional amendment. It might be easier to just hit them in the wallet. If they sponsor or co-sponsor legislation that is found unconstitutional, they forfeit all pay earned as a legislator for that term.
