That is not true and you know it. Supply and demand cause prices to fall and rise all the time. Absolutes like "EVERYONE HAS TO STOP BUYING" are ridiculous.
If you had a lemonade stand and you sold 100 lemonades at $1, but only 50 and $1.50, what would you do? Raise the price even more? Leave it alone? Raise it to $100 dollars and hope you just sell ONE?
A "superhuman" with perfect recording capacity in his computer-enhanced brain reads a book.
Of course, he now has a perfect photographic copy of the book in his memory. His normal daily brain backup is performed and a copy of the "book" now resides on his backup system. Naturally, to save his personality in case of disaster, he disseminates copies of his backups all over the world (so that his personality/memories can be restored).
Seeing that he has led a good and honest life, he sees no reason to encrypt or protect the contents of his memory backups, so they are perfectly accessible to anyone with a copy. His facebook friends from around the world (yes, facebook is still around in the future, scarily) like to review his memories from time to time and happen upon the book.
Exactly what form a "piracy" or "theft" has just occurred?
How do you stop this? SHOULD you stop this?
If I could memorize a book, then write it all down verbatim or recite it from memory to my child, have I somehow stolen something?
AC, you don't see why an artist would say, "Don't buy this product because it doesn't make me any money." ?????
Do you suppose he should just keep his mouth shut like a good little errand boy for EMI? Or, perhaps, does he have a right (if not an OBLIGATION) to let his fans know that the product they think is HIS (and possibly think some of their money for it might be going to reward him for his artisty) actually is NOT?

"Interesting to wonder what business model applies to the experiment it's self. I thought I'd start by trying to decide which of a few rudimentary plans it most resembles but would appreciate your opinions :"
Wow. Just wow.
With all these wonderful options, I don't know why ANYONE would go into business.
This has to be the most pessimistic comment I have ever seen.
Perhaps, given that this country's greatness was BUILT on successful companies and hardworking individuals, things are not as bleak as you make them out to be.
Realizing that analogies can be very dangerous, here is my attempt:
Pretend that Joel broke into someone's house and made digital copies of all their music CDs. While in their house, he did no damage and removed nothing physically.
Then, Joel distributed copies of the CDs to random people on the street (yes, for the sake of the example he distributed ACTUAL CDs).
----
1) Joel committed B&E which IS a crime.
2) Does the music industry "deserve to get paid" for the music copies that Joel made? I don't really think so, but I'd like to hear arguments for YES.
You mean, the internet ISN'T a series of tubes???
Oh, I know! You mean it isn't JUST a series of tubes. Aaaaaah. AND, the tubes have stuff inside them (yes, stuff is the technical word). Then, of course, there are boxes connecting different tubes together.
I'm still trying to figure out how they make the invisible tube that gets the intarweb to my laptop.

Exactly, Ben! Therefore Joel didn't even really commit a crime...
