"The internet has always been filled with a ton of crap"
At the Beginning (also known as the Blessed Dawn Of the Internet) or (Sweet Relief From BBS-land) the Internet was a glorious and magical place populated by Finger servers telling you if the coffee pot was full. Or if the soda machine down the wall was full. Or how many restroom stalls were being used. There were marvelous newsletters like The Desert Rat. The signal to noise ratio was excellent. There was no crap, or at least it wasn't full of it (depending upon your opinion of the above examples).
It didn't fill up until all y'all found out about our secret happy place. Once all y'all started creating new content things went downhill and we couldn't find anything any more.
I've moved on to Internet 3 so I read TechDirt via a legacy IPv7 downlink to IPv6, which is in turn packaged and routed through IPv4.
So much as a collection of random images suggesting 'Canadian-ness' and reminiscent of a junior high school art project. Neither commercial gives me insight in to the candidate or their views, other than the fact that they have poor decision making skills for choosing such an overused and underinformative format. It doesn't even give me any reason to remember their names, which is why I had to scroll up twice to get the names while writing this brief response. So there, candidates, your very expensive commercial wasn't even able to keep your names in my head for a minute.
Also, I wonder if any of the other images used in Harper's video were properly licensed.
Why the hate toward Techdirt dude? Mike encourages healthy discussion but your post wasn't even on topic. Methinks you are just coming here to troll, and that is kind of sad. Want a hug?
You said: "this administration will never come clean about this." and "we are several years away from a leadership"
Why did you phrase it like that? The previous administration put these rules in place and defended them for five or six years. Certainly the rules are being continued by the current administration. A partisan attack which ignores facts from the previous administration only serves to divide, and therefore weaken, the People. All administrations are equally bad at this and these abuses will continue until we stand together and demand transparency.
I apologize if I misunderstood your argument, but it really left a bad taste in my mouth.
So she was concerned about results for "bev stayart levitra" appearing when someone used the words "bev stayart" but not levitra. Sure, I can understand why Bev Stayart would be concerned about people searching for "bev stayart levitra" because she is clearly a respected lawyer and not someone who sells levitra. However, in this case they were probably searching for "bev stayart" and levitra ads happened to show up in the search results page.
Similarly, if you search for "Bev Stayart Marblecake" you do not get any results, but there are two paid advertisements for unrelated products. This does not mean that Bev Stayart makes or sells marblecakes.
I wonder if anyone ever explicitly searched for "bev stayart levitra" when they actually meant to search for "bev stayart" and not levitra. In that case they should use the search term "bev stayart NOT levitra"
Additionally, I wonder if anyone ever searched for "bev stayart cialis", or "bev stayart cialis levitra" in these search engines, because, as I said, Bev Stayart is a respected lawyer and not someone who sells cialis or levitra for discount prices with guaranteed delivery offered at no cost and a 100% money back guarantee.
Hi there. Were you perhaps responding to a different thread?
There were exactly four (4) comments submitted before your post so I'd hardly call that 'so many' and I wouldn't classify that as 'hosed down.' Also, there aren't any poorly-formed thoughts or badly-written comments, except perhaps for the one posted by you.
If I'm off base here let me know, or perhaps Mike's comment response system posted this to the wrong thread (which hasn't happened for a number of years).
This is just a compare & contrast piece. I fail to see how you plan to expand this out beyond a few pages. Eventually you are going to run out of things to say.
I think the beginning is fine, but you'd be better diverging the thread to a new topic, perhaps using an analogy of roads in a yellow wood. You could talk about the thread you didn't take, then bring up something about how the first road is a wrathful, grape-flavored white whale.
I wasn't aware that JC Penny was still in business, but this hardly seems like the best way for them to raise brand awareness. I'm in favor of Google's action, even if it was manual. I pay (via ad views)for Google to provide me with relevant results. I don't want results from people who game the system.
I'll point out that this website has been around for nearly 13 years (grats Mike), so it is clearly more than just Mike yammering about stuff that bugs him.
I purchased "The Calculus Diaries: How Math Can Help You Lose Weight, Win in Vegas, and Survive a Zombie Apocalypse" last month after hearing the author speak on NPR's Science Friday but quickly realized that my college math courses were several decades ago.
I just went in and watched two Khaaaan! videos and I'm smarter for it. This will really help me brush up so that I can read The Calculus Diaries.
I guess it really does take a village to survive a zombie apocalypse.
I've helped to fund 8 projects to completion on Kickstarter so far. Most of them are really helping out people who need a leg up, but a few are neat musical or literary projects. They all exceeded their goals with days to spare.
I'm sorry that you didn't get the interest needed to get funded (although this thread may help). I'd offer some suggestions but I think you pretty much covered the reasons why it went sour on you. When looking at projects I need a compelling reason to drill down to the main page. I like to feel the owner's passion: maybe a good life story, or a link to some artwork they created for the project, or even just the first chapter.
Grats on the publisher interest. You may also want to look at http://unicornpegasuskitten.com/ from Subterranean Press for another way to crowd-fund a project.
Thanks for the scribd link. What about putting up a PayPal donation link so we can kick a few bucks back?
