I think this is a clear instance of the CYAP (Cover Your Ass with Paper) syndrome that government drones use to make sure we don't discover just how corrupt they are!
But it takes a "man" (or woman) of character to admit it when they do. I don't like what Lenovo did, but I have gained a lot of respect for them in that their CTO is willing to fall on his sword over this. And even more respect for him.
We ask, why can't we send these asshats to prison for violating our rights? Oh, because the ones that would be responsible for sending them to prison are the same ones that would be sent to prison? Can we spell "conflict of interest" here?
All things considered, Lynch is probably the "best of the bad" to become the new USAG. Gah! What a situation we are living in! Honesty in government? Wouldn't that be nice? And FWIW, nice is from the Latin nicere - meaning young and ignorant!
When Obama was Senator from Illinois, he was originally against FISA. When it came down to the final vote, he switched his position! Then he ran for President. My guess is that the NSA/CIA or whoever has some dirt on him, and the only way he could run for President was to accede to these buttheads... So, to keep himself "clean", he has to support these asses. Nothing else makes any sense at all to me.
Whatever Senator Rubio wants, he should get, in spades! Let's start posting publicly all of his metadata. After all, if the govt. already collects it, it is OUR property, to do with what we want - right?
If these "Big Pharma" companies weren't so greedy, and their execs so attached (adicted) to their oversized bonuses, then this sort of thing would likely not happen. Charge a reasonable price for your product with a decent (but not exorbitant) profit built in, and most people will not consider you a pirate!
What could POSSIBLY go wrong?! If governments can hack our stuff, so can criminals, and probably a lot easier! This idea is just so stupid that more words fail me!
This isn't about bank robbers or the safety of the police. It is simply that people slow down to the speed limit when they know that there are police around, resulting in fewer speeding tickets, which cut into the ticket quotas that the police are expected to issue. $$ pure and simple!
When it comes to DRM-encumbered devices, discs, etc. JUST SAY NO! Refuse to purchase any such item - the market needs to speak up about this egregious violations of our rights as purchasers. If we are just renting something, then that should be made clear in the terms of purchase. If we are BUYING it, then we own it, and can do with it what we want, and if the vendor subsequently "bricks" it so we cannot use it, they should be liable for treble damages! After all, they have stolen our goods from us!
