The man is 96. You know this is just lawyers working for his estate (possibly prompted by his kids looking to pad their inheritance) finding anything to pad their hours. Any time you see such blatant stupidity, it's almost always lawyers making work out of nothing.
You can buy a combined scanner/printer that does a better scan than a smart phone for a hell of a lot less than a smart phone. I bought my current scanner/printer for $45, brand-new!
So eliminate both parties. In fact, no parties at all. I still think a better system would be to treat politics like jury duty. Put all eligible names in the database, and every month (or whatever period works) a random selection are called to form a pool that are then vetted for available positions. Just like many are called to the jury pool, but only a few actually sit on a jury, only a few would sit in on Congress (national, state, local...) and would be weeded out for things like conflicts of interest, pressing issues in life that would make sitting on Congress too much of a problem, etc.

It can/should be used for allot of things, but online gaming WONT use this. the delay estimated (4000km=2x2000km(up and down) is around 5.3 seconds. Even stockbrokers wont use that..
The lag is estimated at about 50-some milliseconds, not seconds.
And EVEN if they can relay from 1 sat to the next...its a radio signal. its NOT the speed of light.
Radio waves are light, just at a much lower frequency than visible light. As such, they do travel at the speed of light.

Having the data center in space would solve a number of problems, like pesky countries raiding your data center because Hollywood says it's a hub of piracy. I'd love to see the FBI try to get to a server in orbit! :)
Remember that most politicians these days are lawyers. Anything that creates more jobs for lawyers will sail pretty smoothly through Congress. This bill is clearly all about increasing jobs for lawyers.

Five years is how long they will stay in orbit WITHOUT corrections. All Starlink satellites have thrusters to correct their orbits and should last much longer than 5 years. The 5 years figure is in the case of a satellite going dead and not responding to commands - it will gradually fall out of orbit and burn up in five years.
Re: Re: Competing with fiber is not needed for Starlink to succe
In case someone is wondering why it's times four: times one to send a request to the satellite; times two for the satellite to forward the request to a server on Earth; times three for the server to send a response to the satellite; times four for the satellite to relay the response to the user.

They'll do like Charter/Spectrum and require you use their "box" for streaming. That's yet another reason I don't have their streaming service.

The only thing insane is Charter
And then they wonder why I refuse to buy their shitty streaming service. I only have their internet service because it's my only choice here.

They'll probably tie each stream to one particular machine via DRM.

That's why so many satellites. If you have a dozen satellites in range, that spreads the load so that no single satellite has to carry it all.
