absolutely. The irony to this is that very few sites will offer this because they see $$ figures about "behavioral tracking" and get idiotic. That applies to almost every website on the web, which has made the excuse of "we can't survive without ads" and then attacks the users who dare to question it. I think there have been articles about this before.
I remember techreport (the website), when it made super annoying ads, and people were commenting on using adblock, would be threatened with a "one more time and you're banned" (along with comment deletion) for daring to mention circumventing their ads, as if it's a mystery. Yes, they threatened me and said this was policy.
however, the greatest mistake in the first place is getting a vehicle that has onstar.
yep, it's really shortsighted. They think the money is exclusively in the "BIG BUCK$" category, and forget the fact that without infrastructure support (aka the little people you're squashing), you get nothing.
I on the other hand, do have a problem with paying for something that's not even illegal. $10 may be small, but anything greater than zero is too much to pay for simply sharing music.
Microsoft can take anyone to court, but linux infringes on no patents - there is a distinct lack of microsoft ever showing what patents are actually infringed, and B&N was taking microsoft to court over trying to claim these in confidentiality.
yep. the "Bribe for great ratings" has been well known for probably 10-20 years now, if not only shown by how they handle complaints (in that they don't even affect a rating).
Yeah more or less I don't agree with the concept but I do agree with you. IP is not equivalent to free speech to me - in the us that would make it a constitutional right. However, they run a different system - I'm suspicious of sarkozy anyway though.
eh, maybe due to internet - I didn't take it as a question, more being implied as a level of RIAA support, even though their statement on the french version was accurate.
I'd say you're quite imposing on the anon here - while we may not agree with France's general principle, the wording does indeed sound like they are refusing to sign the agreements (and sign away their rights).
I think the Anon seems to have this quite correct, and your comment in comparison, is quite inflammatory.
my french speaking co clarified further: it's not that they're saying that human rights are not above IP, the wording as it's explained is saying that people already have these rights, and the ONU agreement which they are refusing to sign would be taking away people's speech rights, more or less.
"then it says that the foreign affair minister said htat france doesn't wish to sign any declaration with ONU regarding the defense of human rights on the internet as long as their is no consensus on the fact that the liberty to express and communicate is not above all the other rights. specifically the right to intellectual property"

They were saying in the second paragraph that "everyone has a right to IP" and that IP should *NOT* be a hierarchy...so it's implying it's equal to human rights.
First paragraph says that liberty, respect of "private life" and private property are all fundamental rights of the same level.
Check with people who speak french first before posting so off on this. I mean really, did you expect google translate to work well for *french*?
However, guess who consistently has horrible ads? all of the network tv channels. I have yet to see good ads outside of adult swim's entertaining ones or during the superbowl. I'm exaggerating a little but not much. We're not just talking lack of relevance, we're talking boring ads.
Hell, TV show ads sometimes are ads for shows on the same channel. Really, is that needed?

When you deal with a job where you handle criminal acts, of course you're going to believe everyone else is one. Broadbrush is the police, not Mike.
