The thing is, when saying that piracy is theft, it becomes a moral issue, as everyone knows that stealing is wrong and people who steal should be punished. However, when you change "theft" to "Copyright Infringement" it takes the morality away from the issue at hand.
Yes, you should pay to see stuff, people do work hard to make stuff happen. I will never say "consume everything for free" (except in the case of Public Domain works or stuff that's available for free of course) because that's not right.
What I want, though, is for the narrative of piracy to go from "theft" to "copyright infringement". Once that happens, there's less knee-jerk reaction from people and they can focus on the why something happens rather than the what of something that happened.
So, the next time there's an article on police getting beaten up and screaming for help, we can just go "listen to him, he's enjoying it, listen to his screams of joy and laughter."
From Ground Zero, it looks like the country won't go into Civil War or even break apart, according to what people over there have been posting online. Many are astounded by the lies and coverups that the Russian Media has undertook to make it look worse than it is.
Don't get me wrong, it is bad.
People in Russia, from a friend of mine who lives in Moscow, have stated that they're a bit worried that Ukraine, and especially Kiev, will erupt into war.
Not because the people of Ukraine would fight each other, but because such a conflict would draw in the neighboring countries and cause an all-out regional war that may require further outside help (read: US and Western Europe) to keep things from going too far out of hand like they do in Syria.
On TOP of all of this, the people of Russia LOVE Vladmir Putin. If he said, right now "we're going to invade Ukraine and take it over", then people would line up in droves to do just that.
After all, there's no way anyone on this planet could EVER allow for stuff like that to happen and why Obama never released his birth certificate until AFTER he was President!

To steal, you have to deprive someone of something else.
A recording is not stealing.
Stop using steal for copyright infringement.
Piracy is NOT a moral issue, blue, stop making it one.

Re:
What did Snowden lie about?
Everything he's revealed has been the truth.
And your stupidity of claiming that the "debate is over" is wrong.
As I pointed out to you last week, women's suffrage took over 7 decades.
Civil Rights took almost 2 decades.
Vietnam protests took 15 years.
Nixon was in office into his 6th year when he resigned over what happened during his re-election campaign.
Your view of how "the debate is already over" is not only mis-informed, it's ignorant.
Let's not forget that it took THREE PRESIDENTS working with Russia to get the nuclear weapons in both Russia and America reduced.
6 months since the leaks started is NOT the end of the debate.
It's just the beginning.
