heh. Good point, Lawrence D'Oliveiro... The "Animal vs Plant" kingdom system is really messy now that biologists are constantly finding extremophiles that blur the lines between how food is consumed in organisms.
heh.. given how many versions of "CSI" TV shows there are, I think there must be some kind of hard-wired part of human brains that is programmed to enjoy following weird mysteries.
Frost.. I think the solution, then, is to somehow make it profitable to use scientific-brainwashing to achieve the more practical and sustainable/productive goals that you have in mind! :P
Imagine if marketing could get people to develop renewable energy sources and make healthcare affordable...
I think someone must have done the "moist Twinkies actually do mold" experiment.. I assume Twinkies have no extra special preservatives that allow them to escape mold growth under any conditions.
heh. that joke reminds me of the Chris Rock standup routine about wealth -- and how Bill Gates would jump out of a window if his fortune dropped to Oprah's net worth... :P
I seriously think that CGI will get to the point where actors will basically be "voice actors" -- and their physical appearance will be almost always modified by graphic artists (like most magazine covers nowadays)....
Tests are not the best assessment methods, oftentimes -- which I think is part of the "failure" of NCLB... If every question on a test has a correct answer, then we're really not preparing students for the "real world" at all.
"The film takes place in a dystopian 2033, after a comet has hit the Earth, altering the climate and turning it into a wasteland. There has been no rain for over 11 years. Water is extremely scarce, and what little is available is controlled by the Water & Power (W&P), led by Kesslee (Malcolm McDowell). Water & Power are opposed by the almost mythical "Rippers," a mysterious group that no one can find. Tank Girl, a.k.a. Rebecca (Lori Petty), is a member of a small outlaw group that has set up their own water well in the basement of a house. Learning of the well, W&P attacks, killing most in the house and taking Rebecca and a young girl named Sam. Imprisoned, Rebecca is repeatedly brutalized by Kesslee, who wants to break her spirit. Between intellectual jousts with Kesslee, Rebecca befriends her neighbor cellmate, a mechanic who works on W&P's vehicles...."
