Thanks, Mike.
The page embedded above may look insufficient as a proof, but I want to assure that the letters signed by Paul Duffy on the "Anti-Piracy Law Group" letterhead are being sent out. It's understandable that the person who shared that page was reluctant to make the entire demand letter public, even redacted. Nonetheless, it is just a matter of time, and we will have the whole thing soon.
Note also that Prenda Law is not likely being complemented by the new firm, but rather replaced: Prenda Law did not file its annual report that was due in the end of October, and it is not in good standing with the state of Illinois as a result.

Cases dismissed
Judge Leo Sorokin finally dropped the hammer on Marvin Cable and recommended dismissing the case for failure to serve the defendants (scroll down to update).

Fight Copyright Trolls did a wonderful bit of investigatory journalism concerning Steele's move to Florida and connection to "Prenda Law Firm."
Very flattering and thank you, yet, as the post states, lots of credit goes to Graham Syfert: he did a LOT making sure John Steele and his gang are constantly on the run in the sunny Florida.

C'mon Mike, it was fun, even during the conception and anticipation phases. Just read the comments. Whether any recipient followed the link is beyond the point. Ernesto said that "Even if just one person reads it, it was totally worth the effort." I think it was worth the effort regardless.
It's a normal MO to fight scum with serious faces, and that what we do 99% of time, but IMO the most devastating blows villains get when their to-be victims stop perceiving them seriously. We need to use fun warfare more.

Jonder or now joinder: while you can't have both, there is no need to take sides.
Verizon, like many other ISPs, has fought back against these demands for info on a variety of grounds -- including improper joinder (i.e., that the cases improperly lump together multiple people who had nothing to do with one another in an attempt to keep costs to the trolls down). These claims of improper joinder have been somewhat effective in getting a lot of these cases thrown out -- but usually those claims are raised by the account holders themselves, rather than the ISPs.
That's because Marc Randazza is not seen anywhere on the horizon here. Marc Randazza, who affirmatively states that the joinder is proper, and I'm a "bit paranoid" when I blow the whistle trying to draw attention to the fact that MJR creates a dangerous precedent, undoing the work of dozens other lawyers and question an almost established caselaw.
Let me be clear. Randazza/Rushie's motion in the bellwether trial is brilliant, yet it has one dangerous proposition. It is OK to call out trolls' contradiction (you can't claim proper joinder and then sue an individual in a derivative lawsuit without the previously and properly (according to the troll)essential parties.
But there is no reason not to stop there. There is no reason to take sides, declaring bittorent swarm joinder theory absolutely correct, securing further mass bittorent cases, most of which are effectively dead when all but one Doe is severed.

Re: Re: Re: Is it even copyrightable?
Still waiting for some defense attorney argue that porn is not copyrightable, but for entirely different reason: because it is 100% Scènes à faire. THAT would be fun.

Re: Is it even copyrightable?
There was more than one case where the copyrightability of porn was questioned: both by judges and defendants. The closest call was in the Fantalis's case (which is settled on Friday). Randazza even filed an amicus curiae brief on this case. Why it was the closest? During the last hearing, Judge Hegarty clearly stated that if the jury found any of the “works” to be obscene, these “works” would not be subject to copyright protection.

Righthaven, Randazza, Fraud....
To preserve the fairness, it was not Marc Randazza who discovered the fraudulent MM copyrights. It was a Michigan attorney Jeffrey Thennisch — back in July.
As for Randazza's involvement, I decided to keep my opinions and emotions tamed for the time being. If it happens that I was, as Mike put it, "paranoid," I will be happy to admit it: I'm not here to tickle my ego. Yet I don't trust this man: he brought too much misery to ordinary folks' families, and I'm not ready to brush it off, even if his involvement in the bellwether trial happens to be effective.

Re: Re: Re: Horsemanure-- all law suits are business decisions
Thank you for the undeniable proof. I'm going to believe you rather than my 100+ correspondents, most of whom had absolutely no clue what was going on when they wrote me. Sure I'm going reply all of them calling them liars.
Especially that 80+ y.o lady who went to Home Depot to by a lock, after a troll told her that it is her duty to lock up her Internet. She is a liar, ain't she?

Re:
You are at least a month behind the news (or simply don't bother to do a research before making frivolous statements): there is a case that goes full throttle to the debates on merits. A bellwether trial in Pennsylvania. And you know what? No one from the anti-troll camp is "bitching," on the contrary, everyone is excited. Not the trolls though: those are the ones who do everything to derail the process.
Also: ever heard about Malibu Media v Fantalis et al? The defendant is diligently trying to get the case to the trial, but trolls (surprise!) sabotage.

Re: Re: Horsemanure-- all law suits are business decisions
This. Pornographers may even lose copyright protection: more than one judge has already hinted on that.
To me pornographers who fall for trolls' lies are like kids: they were given a useful and complicated tool (copyright), but instead they abused it causing huge harm to the society. So society has no choice but to take this tool back. Simple.

John Adams
If you follow the link to ArsTechnica, and follow the link to the original post about this order I wrote 8 days ago from there, I owe you some explanation of a joke — a John Adams collage:
The subject of Sorokin's lashing, a copyright troll Marvin "President Adams" Cable got his nickname after he compared his brave actions defending porn from evil bittorent pirates with ones by John Adams who defended English soldiers after the Boston massacre. This comparison caused a flurry of amusement among lawyers (who, naturally, kept serious, silent faces in public).
And a meme-grade phrase Your internet has been identified in infringing copyrights is indeed Marvin's phrase from a hearing (quoted in Judge Sorokin's order).

This. I don't understand why regular folks are so cruel and bloodthirsty. Zero tolerance implies zero mercy and zero empathy.
Everyone of us made many stupid things: before saying "it's nobody's fault but yours," everyone should make an effort and recall own bloopers, and imagine the worst possible consequences.

Re: Is it even copyrightable?
But as I said, the case settled right after that: Fantalis moved too close to the foundation of Malibu's house of cards and threatened its destruction.
Nothing interesting happened in other cases that brushed the copyrightability of porn, yet the idea is still in the air, and if trolls push harder with their assault on the society, they may find that the toy (copyright protection) given to pornographers may be taken back for abuse as adults take back toys from toddlers who misuse them.
