If you don't really know, every "baddy" group is in cahoots, with hot lines between them so they can each take their turn kicking at things. It's called the communion of interests: the labels want money for nothing, their supporting groups want their money and both will do anything to get it.
Wrong analogy. Here's a better version:
Somebody has a bookstore but refuses to pay for any security. People walking thru the street enter the store and, if they like what they see, take their own pen and paper, from their own pocket, and make a copy. The store owner thinks that this is theft and demands that the owner of the sidewalk perform security for the store because the alleged criminals are entering the store via the sidewalk and that the owner of the sidewalk should keep such criminals out of its store.
Actually the last time the optical disk driver was updated is in 2001 so no, you don't need a driver disk, it will be automatically recognized and loaded in 100% of the cases.
This whole site starts with a wrong premise: that lawmakers will think about what their actions will do to all of us instead of what they, personally, will gain(unfortunately mostly monetary)from it.
" RIAA to post this suit we require a 1 Million bond to be posted PER John Doe to cover his costs in the case you fail to prove your case. Now this would slow down the lawsuit system. "
This is exactly how it is in Romania. The result: 0 (zero) lawsuits against individual file-sharers and 5-6 anually against commercial forgers - all ending with prison sentences. Best solution overall.
