The law should have been more detailed...
Like a teacher can not 'friend' or request 'friend status' from a current student on a social network.
And if they really worried about have the teacher also fully disclose to the principle when a pre-existing 'friend' attends their class. Like in the case of a relative or maybe even a neighbor or family friend.
I see that it could a bit of an issue when a current teacher wants to a friend a student. The teachers are in a noted position of power and it makes it hard (especially for a current student) to refuse. Like my teacher who was building a house and asked each student to come over and do a little 'work' on the house - I think shingled his whole house.
Given the quick advancement of social networks it should be quickly adopted into the teachers code of conduct/ethics. Installing in law means bring in lawyers and to many absolutes.
I understand bills have to be paid and accept some ads in return for content - after all I do not pay for a subscription.
I tend to view the ads more than I click on them. That is because I only really click on ads that are really relevant to me at that time. Sorry no 'enlargers' needed, or dating services etc.. The more flashy and annoying the more I tend to ignore it and the hosting site.
I look forward to years of fine unobtrusive ad supported reading from Techdirt.
Since every computer involved in illegal/infringement actives has found to have the 127.0.0.1 address the Judge will next order ISP to block all access to 127.0.0.1.
Where is this Ziggy's Bar & Grill? Sounds like they actually care about the customer and make an effort to make the customer happy.
Personally I am always impressed when a business hears about a bad experience and expresses a genuine interest in doing what they can to resolve it. For me that is the type of place I would rather spend my money at, even if it cost a bit more.
Watch American Greed the other night and it was about hackers. The guy set up shop in areas with multiple open wifi and used a booster to get some better range and then alternated which ones he used for the attack.
I saw another show where the hacker rented a office space far away (more than 10 block, but still in line of sight) from then open wifi and then constructed an 10 foot antenna and directed right at the open wifi location.
My point is stupid criminals get caught. It is the smart criminal that I worry about...
When can the court gets it wasted taxpayers money from Rightaven for all the courts & judges wasted time. Yeah I have may doubt that Rightaven will pay any income taxes.
We can find the answers now. When I was a kid and want to know something at the spur of the moment I would have to take some effort to find it. Now my kids come to me and say they saw a purple dragon fly in the yard and wonder why it was purple and not some other color. They ask to look up the issue on the internet. In less than 5 minutes we had all sorts of information and a clear answer for the kid. Then two weeks later she saw some black and red ants and inquired if their colors where determine in the same way as the dragon flies.
Like most kids they ask lots of questions and now we have the power to really given them a solid answer. Not like when I was a kid and my parent skirted the question and if remembered I would ask the teachers or go to the library and spend significant time looking up answer.
The power if the information age is now we can find the answer long before we forget the question.
Re: Working prototype should be required for any patent.
It should go further than just a working prototype requirement for any patent. Any individual should be able to replicate a working prototype from just the patent.
General vague unproven concepts should not be allowed in the patent system.
UK may have to start paying newspapers for the "privilege" OR NOT link at all to them.
What lesson was recently learned... those links help generate traffic and revenue for the newspapers.
All those serves should just stop linking to any UK newspaper.
This is an excellent opportunity for Google. Google can Charge a fee to the Music Industry to implement this service (there costs + 3000%). The end user's benefits also as they see which sites are worth going to.
The whole strike process is cruel and unusual punishment as clearly indicated by this judge. I like the analogy that if you violate a books copyright you are not banned from every owning, using, or reading books again.
I love business that take an active interest in user comments. A few review sites I enjoy often have feedback attached to the complaint written by the business. Often with-in a day or two of the posting. Show me the business cares and is working to resolve the issue. Now with out any response on the site and just a defamation lawsuit would lead me to believe the comments are true.
If the hotel had responded to the comment and provide a link to a copy of the report from the pest control company I would think more of that hotel and their outstanding level of customer service.
You sir, are guilty.... now tell someone who cares.
This whole process is flawed and needs some major legal challenges.
By their logic:
You are not technically savvy enough to stop the unauthorized access so you should be banned from the internet.
You are technically savvy enough to stop the unauthorized access so you MUST be guilt and be banned from the internet.
My first question would be how they came to such a conclusion to even lay accusations? Any form of legal discovery? Invasion of privacy? If it turns out the accusations are not true is their any recourse to recoup any finical losses and personnel embarrassment over the false declaration? If you are able to vindicate yourself is there anything to stop them from harassing you and continuing to accusing you?
Lastly is it possible for me to just buy or create three copyright works by three different companies and then accuses all members of government and employees of related to HADOPI?
Oh they are taking out all the fun. What are the TSA agents to do now. Soon they will take away the groping! What is the fun of being a TSA agent if you take away all the job perks like ogling naked images and groping? Think of the poor TSA agents!
I think they realized fighting Baidu was a no win and they need to accept what Baidu offered.
Baidu is essentially an arm of the government. The record labels are foreign companies. And this whole concept of copyright is relatively new to China. Three big strikes against record labels.
The record labels just want sources of revenue - Baidu offered them a easy choice make money now or simply not to. Now that Baidu has legitimate control over purse strings they can and will start to dictate what they want or they will revoke there revenue stream from the record labels and go back to hosting the music files themselves and not paying any foreign record companies.
