I was actually responding to the idea that Trunk is claiming that they have an exclusive licence to use the original work, but forgot to quote the sentence in question because dyslexia. Sorry. :(
I think you meant And they don't want the people who play GT to see the logos. Of course, they have no control over it, given the fact that both devs and gamers will still see the logos if they watch motor sports on TV. :)
Mike Masnick absolutely loves it when companies' rights are struck down. Blah blah blah, shill shill shill... You don't think I need a sarc mark for the above, do you?
Well, given the vehicle's choice between ploughing into a bus full of children or the armed man who has the power to hurt people, wouldn't you rather the car hit the prick in the uniform even if he's your son? ;)
"The police officer directing traffic in the intersection could see the car barreling toward him and the occupant looking down at his smartphone. Officer Rodriguez gestured for the car to stop, and the self-driving vehicle rolled to a halt behind the crosswalk." That hypothesis is quite clearly bullshit. After all, if a vehicle is self-driving, then it's going to travelling at a steady speed and not 'barrelling towards' anyone. Furthermore, checking your texts whilst behind the wheel of a self-driving car doesn't have the dangers inherent in doing so whilst behind the wheel of a traditional vehicle, although I wouldn't advise doing so because of the dangers of getting caught by a gun-toting cop who can't tell the difference between a Google car and a Ford Ka.
Possibly, or just arguing that 2600 copied part of the work they hosted rather than the far more plausible explanation that both parties used part of a non-exclusively licensed work. Copyfraud either way.
It was a mistake, no biggie. I've made greater errors in the past due to one or more of my various cognitive disabilities, so it'd be a bit hypocritical of me to do more than correct the error. :)
Actually, I stated that any fair use argument is unnecessary since both uses were licensed, the fair use mention is in the italicised portion I quoted from the article.
In court, a savvy lawyer argues that if ignorance of the law is no excuse for the ordinary citizen, then someone charged with upholding it should be fired for a similar lack of knowledge that was obviously gained through actual ignorance. The judge agrees with this and lays the smackdown on the DOJ before revealing their true identity as Jesus Christ just as he return to heaven; because I'm telling you, it would take a fucking miracle before judges wise up to the way cops use ignorance of the law as a tool to deny citizens their rights not just in the US.
Oh, and it turned out that ringtones were patented, apparently. From the linked article: As pointed out in the comments, the specifics of the patent make it a little bit more focused than any ringtone. It covers recording your own ringtone or customizing your own ringtone on the phone -- which doesn't seem much better anyway. Oh, shit. I'm probably in big trouble for using MP3s as ringtones and notification alerts since 2010. Should I be filing a pre-emptive lawsuit against Samsung for giving me the ability to do that when I shouldn't have been? ;(
In this case, Mycroft is not a reference to the Sherlock Holmes books. I never said it was, I was quoting the part of the article where its writer said Mycroft could be triggered by watching a series in which a character has the same name.
Re: Following your prior story today, I bet they were paid. -- You even say it's fake!
Rockstar may have games released on the Xbone, but that still doesn't make them the same company or guilty of the same offences. You wanna get some evidence of your claims before you start spouting your mouth?
Researchers have identified a protein called BsIA that can make a slower-melting ice cream. That's nothing, Alton Towers uses liquid nitrogen to make ice cream that they claim doesn't melt in the sun. :) There's also a glow-in-the-dark sorbet version made without jellyfish proteins... for the vegans and those who can't eat dairy who don't want to miss out. CTFY, Michael. ;p
Re: The Roman Catholic Church - is not and never has been "Christianity"
Christianity has only in recent times become the diverse range of beliefs that it is, and even then, when it comes to us non-Christians, preachers and ministers like to talk about all of Christendom as if it were still a united front against those of us outside the faith. Not Unitarian ministers; in our church we not only recognise the existence of beliefs other than our own, we respect people's right to have them as well. An atheist can attend a service and walk out still an atheist, there'll be no attempts made to convert them. :)
Ghirardelli still makes chocolate in San Leandro but they're owned by Lindt now, so I can't say if their quality has changed. Possibly, possibly not; it all depends on what the quality was in the first place since Lindt know what quality is when it comes to food (in the UK, at least). I just wish that knowledge extended to 501s so they quit donating to one that recommends warehousing Autistic people in a place where shock collars are used as 'treatment'.
[...] as a representative from eBay told the court, the sellers don't actually get to see those ratings [...] That's both true and untrue. I'm sure sellers are able to see the separate ratings if they're signed out. Even if they told the truth on anything, however, any sensible judge would have tossed this suit out as malicious so the right result was still reached.
What an amazingly well thought out and presented comment. Really, your various points, all exhaustively cited and backed up by other sources, and your downright eloquently written arguments certainly convinced me of the rightness of your point, bravo. Quoted for truth, keeping the sarcastic tone intact.
You have an excellent point. :D Of course, it would be better if there was a law to make each rights holder used automated systems directly if they feel the need to use them and to have a team of humans to examine each flag before submitting the related complaint.
