Any reasonable person could envisage an axe being used as an offensive weapon. Maybe if you try drawing an analogy with something that doesn't have such an obvious potential illegal use.
I submitted my comments on the consultation, despite their best efforts to bore me into submission.
Several questions irritated me but question 24 at least allowed me to focus my wrath on the whole exercise:
Article 14 of the E-commerce Directive does not specify the illegal content to which it relates. Consequently, this article can be understood to apply horizontally to any kind of illegal content. In response to the public consultation on e-commerce of 2010, stakeholders indicated that they did not wish to make modifications in this regard. 24. Do you consider that different categories of illegal content require different policy approaches as regards notice-and-action procedures?
What kind of nutty stakeholders in 2010 didn't feel there was any need to differentiate between the measures that might be taken for child pornography compared to the measures that are (not) necessary for someone publishing a copyright infringing video on YouTube?
It seemed that the judge had entirely bought into the FACT version of events, the Copyright Math taken on face value. The need to defend Hollywood revenue or face the nightmare prospect of fewer films.
I wondered whether Vickerman had the same quality of robust defence team enjoyed by Paul Chambers?

I'm sure that if the MPAA create an appropriate memo of talking points Mike will be able to tweet something that promotes the vindictive villainous corporate scumbag point of view too.

You're joking right? I've got a Flying Vee and I'd swap it for a PRS McCarty in a heartbeat. American made Hamers are made with the kind of love that some sixties Gibsons enjoyed.

I suppose I'm not a cord cutter, strictly speaking...
I cancelled my Spotify, LoveFilm and Netflix subscriptions the day that Ofcom announced their three-strikes rules in the UK. The next time I will spend any money with any organisation related to the MPAA or RIAA is when they repeal the Digital Economy Act.
This is reminiscent of the Department for Education consultation that's currently running in the UK regarding options for censorship "to protect the children". It doesn't ask whether censorship should happen, it asks which variety of censorship you want.
I'm theorizing, but maybe Microsoft think that "precipitating events" occur beyond the main sales horizon so they'd rather sell people new games rather than supporting old ones. A kind of planned obsolescence.
Explain to me again how the RIAA are responsible for the relative prosperity of the the UK over Somalia?
Don't get me wrong, I really do want my freedom of expression trampled, and my government corrupted by American industry bodies, but, you know, if I'm ever expected to explain to my children why they have a Great Firewall Of Britain, and only "enjoy" RIAA certified products that they pay for every time they consume them, I'll need to be able to recite the your illogical rhetoric for them.
