The saddest part? That "die-in-a-fire" TAMMY assumes noboddy knows how to use the Page-Up function in the browser.
"Paul shot first! I'm an innocent victim! You're all the bad guys who insult others and attack with ad-hominems! Also you're all butt-buddies and ghey!"
"You tossed ad-homs at me, idiot! You're extremist, everyone in this site is in fact no better than the KKK! Fuck you all waaarrbBARRGHL! NOW EXCUSE ME WHILE I TAKE THE HIGH ROAD ASSHOLES!"
Yeah, First-Name-Basis TAMMY is not trolling at all.
What a dreadful, extremist message, not to mention communist and pirate apologist! No wonder there's trolls in this site, attacking this so called "free speech" anarchist agenda.
Re: 'seems to misunderstand what the word "incentive" means'
Interesting, there seems to be a hidden message in out_of_the_blue's crazed mutterings (at this point, it's far more probable it's a faux-Shill than the real ootb).
Let's see... PARTICULAR... GOOGLE... BETTER THAN FREE... COMPETE... GOOD!
Particular Google better than free compete good!
Nice, I think we can all agree that it's a good thing that Google forces competition by making his service better than free.
Actually read the "not a store" blog post of Kickstarter. They clearly mean it's not an online catalog where you point at a picture and buy stuff and wait for it to be delivered. They want to make it clear that you're financing something.
Everyone just takes the "not a store" as some sort of catchphrase and say "but but you're not supposed to give money to Kickstarter in exchange of stuff!" or something silly like that.
"Godwin's law (also known as Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies or Godwin's Law of Nazi Analogies) is an argument made by Mike Godwin in 1990 that has become an Internet adage. It states: "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1." In other words, Godwin observed that, given enough time, in any online discussion—regardless of topic or scope—someone inevitably makes a comparison to Hitler and the Nazis."
"...The rule does not make any statement about whether any particular reference or comparison to Adolf Hitler or the Nazis might be appropriate, but only asserts that the likelihood of such a reference or comparison arising increases as the discussion progresses, irrespective of whether it is appropriate or not. Precisely because such a comparison or reference may sometimes be appropriate, Godwin has argued that overuse of Nazi and Hitler comparisons should be avoided, because it robs the valid comparisons of their impact."
Source: Wikipedia
Sometimes the comparison can be appropriate. It just talks about overuse of those analogies.
And yeah, applying Godwin to East Germany is ridiculous.
A Godwin says nothing about the validity of the arguments.
Godwin's Law is not a type of fallacy. It's merely an observation, that the longer a conversation thread goes, the chance of Hitlers or the Nazis being mentioned approaches 100%.
It's like saying that once your toast falls with the buttered side down, you've lost the debate because Murphy's Law was invoked.
Also, East Germany = pinko commies, not Nazis. No relation to Godwin's.
Just because you see him weak and stupid and incapable of any kind of critical thinking, doesn't mean you have to take advantage! Where's your compassion?
Sure, he may be a carbon bag of human waste, but that doesn't mean you get to call him names!
He may be a spineless twit so insecure in his point of view that he can't even stop tossing random insults and lashing out at anyone who calls him on his lack of common sense, but that does NOT give us the right to treat him like the lowest biological sample that has ever been part of the animal kingdom, even if he IS!
