Keep that in mind techdirt when your lying reporters are thrown in jail by are POTUS Donald J Trump
I'm not even going to try and explain to you your massive misunderstanding of how algorithms work because quite frankly, a brick wall has a better chance of understanding it.
But your statement about POTUS arrresting people is beyond laughably stupid. Despite your fervent fantasy, our President does not have the power to arrest anyone, or even to order their arrest because he wants to.
Having a lawsuit filed in Virginia based upon a California paper's report into his family farm moving to Iowa is a great way for him to ensure the entire country sees how badly an internet cow whoops his butt.
Makes me wonder if the only way to stop companies from bricking perfectly usable tech devices in order to make customers buy new ones would be to make the company pay for the ewaste disposal and recycling they caused.
Prudent would to be to remove the "SWAT" response from SWATing...start by sending a patrol car or two to investigate before blasting away. Calling into the residence, knocking on doors can all be done with minimal risk.
If there are other objective indicators thaty a SWAT response is warranted, then by all means deploy it. But to risk the lives of the public based upon a single source is reckless.
Considering how many cable companies are ALSO the dominant ISP, do you really believe they wouldn't jack up internet prices to recover their lost profit margins?

Even worse is if a student becomes a crime victim because their location data was revealed to the wrong person.
