I remember about 6-8 years back, I had to destroy a Mega Bloks brick to separate it from a Lego baseplate. The softer plastic had deformed when connected.
That may not be common, but it kinda destroyed any small chance of me purposely purchasing non-Lego bricks again.
Well, that and, in my experience, the pieces don't even hold to their own brand bricks very well.
DRM: A way to force people to give you money to consume your product. Breaks the product if not found to be authorized.
Paywall: A way to force people to give you money to consume your product. Money must be provided to get past the paywall, and any avenues bypassing such break the product, partially or in whole.
DRM-Free download: A way to support (an) artist(s) by giving you an official (and usually affordable) venue for the consumption of your product. Which is available for free in the exact same format. Literally no change except for the artist getting money.
"Spirit" and "intent" are ALWAYS second to the LETTER of the law.
SEC. 105. No cause of action shall lie . . . and no liability for damages to any person shall be granted against, a service provider, payment network provider, Internet advertising service, advertiser, Internet search engine, domain name registry, domain name registrar, entity described in section 101(20)(B), or Internet Protocol Allocation entity . . . for taking the actions described in section 102(c)(2) or section 103(c)(2) with respect to an Internet site, acting in good faith and based on credible evidence, that—
(1) the Internet site is a foreign infringing site, is an Internet site dedicated to theft of U.S. property, or is an Internet site that endangers the public health; and
(2) the action is narrowly tailored and consistent with the entity’s terms of service or other contractual rights, and with the purposes of this title.
See the "or" in bullet 1? That means "any of these," not "all of these."
And you can bet your shilling ass that any and all terms of service will be amended to be as easy on the service provider as possible.
The way the internet exists today, it follows "the rule of law."
However, SOPA supporters don't like the way the current laws function (too slow, too piecemeal, too haaaAAARRRrrd), so they are trying to get the law changed.
We rose up as a unit and said "Bullshit!", and now they don't like the backlash.
Even GoDaddy. Which would you rather be allowed to do: only remove offending materials (piece by piece), or *bloop* turn off the whole website, with no threat of recrimination?
Like NBC could be removed from the internet. As in, their ISP/host/DNS turned them off after a single notice of copyright infringement, even if it was just in the comment section of a project blog.
Because SOPA specifically prevents penalties from being applied to service providers taking preemptive action.
Unless that's changed? But it couldn't could it? Wouldn't that be a *gasp* safe harbor?
protip: changing your username doesn't change your IP identifier.
Unless you are multiple people trying to make a point completely opposite of your stated point, ie. IP addresses are useless as personal identifiers, and are circumstantial evidence at best.
Well. Duh. When we DO give you detailed plans, you try to blast them out of the water by saying, "that can only work for X or Y." You refuse to acknowledge the fact that, while true, detailed plans are only possible with a specific person/group in mind.
One problem. We don't elect them to do what they want however many years their term lasts. They're supposed to keep listening to their constituents the whole time they hold their office. So, no. It is a terrible idea to just give our opinions of what they are doing after it is done.
We are not consumers of a product they are manufacturing, to boycott their goods.
We can't just ignore laws they pass that detrimentally effect us.
We need to prevent those laws from being enacted in the first place, to the best of our abilities.
"check out recorded music sales, even as recorded music consumption is at an all time high"
It's a nice bullshit trick from the copyright maximalists here. Legislation should zip along at "internet time", when useful research and study takes real time, and years worth of data to come to any meaningful conclusion.
To the naked eye, you can see the enormous benefit the music industry as a whole is receiving (the enormous amount of legitimate indie music that is free, as well as official labeled music that is free as well,). You have to be willfully blind, or intending to demand rent from your customers to deny what is obviously true.

"tie the pig to the princess" was earmarked in the 2012 edition (January) of the "Troll du Jour Calendar."
If you guys keep skipping ahead like that, how are the rest of the trolls supposed to earn their Shill Dollars?
You may just end up sued...

No.
No.
There was no "subtle inference" of that manner.
The only "inference" possible is one based on what has actually been said in his works.
That is, it's not that "the pirates made it possible."
Try "When you treat your customers as human, and act as such yourself, the pirates don't matter."
Who cares if every single official paid download was matched by a pirated one? Who cares if they were outstipped 2-to-1?
He made a million dollars in 12 days ANYWAYS.
